hey guys, hope you can help..

my sis moves into a house soon but the only proper TV aerial goes to upstairs bedroom and being rental house cant go chopping and rerouting so we can get the aerial downstairs for her to watch.

however... she has what looks like a sky dish attached to the side of the house and an aerial connection in the house from this dish.

can she buy some kind of freeview box to run off this dish and just pay her tv licence fee as per normal?

cheers

A second hand Sky Digital box & viewing card would do (would miss out on some channels without a viewing card IIRC; it doesn't need to be on a paid subscription though).

I think Sky do a 'Freesat' package for in the region of £99 including the dish, but you might be better off trying to source an old box yourself.

cool cheers....

seen some freesat boxes for sale and just need to buy a card from freesat then for £20.

sorted... at least theres an option. :)

Ask the landlord to have a TV point fitted downstairs. It's not compulsory to have one but considered a normal service to provide.

I often install aerials for landlords on rented property.

I'd give that a go, while it may not be a requirment that landlords offer an aerial conection I'm surprised there isn't one already. It would be relatively cheap for the Landlord to get this sorted and would make his property more sttractive to future tennants.
