Sky HD audio?

Yeah the settings in the sound menu have been changed to Dolby.

If the sound is coming out of all the speakers when it's showing PCM then yes it's upmixing it for you, and yes it will show dolby digital on your amp when it gets a DD signal from sky.

Looking at your link it says Multichannel PCM and CEC so yes it does

some onkyo's default to stereo when recieving dd/dts unless you either change it or set the default options in the setup menu. I dont know if you can do that with the s3305.

Yeah sound comes out of all the speakers when watching anything on the sky box. Not had the input change from PCM to the dolby sign yet. But again at the moment im not in a position to test it all properly.
Need to have a good look at the settings on the amp really, but it sounds good at the moment and dont want to alter anything lol.

Sounds like it's working ok to me, it will show PCM when it's receiving a 2 channel signal.

Set your dvd output to bitstream, looks a nice set up enjoy

not want to sound like I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but are you sure it's outputing over the optical Ie, is it set up in the amp as optical,( just to be sure remove the optilink cable to test.)

Yeah defo sure, as you go in the sounds option and you have to select which Hdmi uses the optical. I will double check just to make sure, also i will try and look for something on sky out putting DD.

Good point, i did that with mine at first

so just for the sky box i plug it direct into the hdmi on the tv and not the amp

Well just looked at the options and for the sat/cable it is set to optical 1. I cant find anything that is broadcasting with DD at the moment either lol.

Just another thing if i do pull the optical out of the amp should i lose all sound?

Not sure on that one, on my amp i can only select 1 input at a time either one of the HDMIs or the optical not both.

Right go into the digital audio and cbl/sat is set to optical 1 which is the port my lead is going into, if i pull this out im still getting sound out of the unit, even if i change it to optical 2 im getting sound still. I think some how its getting the sound from the Hdmi rather than the optical cable, Hmm this has got me confused as im not sure what to set to what now lol.

OK I'm confused. Currently I have a HDMI cable which goes from the Sky box to my TV, and then an optical cable from the TV to my amp. Will it be better quality if I connect an optical cable direct from the Sky box to my amp?

Not sure but there is a light for that and its not lit so i presume not.

Not got sky one hd, but i have foundE4 +1 Fantastic 4 with DD.
Now i have this channel on and its saying on the display of the amp " CBL ALL Ch St"

Which i presume its playing it in stereo rather than DD.

If i set the optical cable to say DVD = Optical 1 then i get the sound into that dvd channel, but it still say the same message on the display. Now i know this is going to be something really daft but im new to all this so treat me like i dont have a clue, because i don't actually have a clue lol.

Try pushing the tv button on your amp remote please, with the optical plugged in.
And still on e4+1.

I have pressed the tv/cd button, I still have a picture but i have no sound. I get the same message apart from the first word has now changed to TV instead of CBL.
