Hey guys just a quick easy question that i couldnt find an answer to on the sky website.

Is the Sky HD+ Box just the same as a Sky+ Box with-out the HD Package?

If it is does a standard Sky+ Box just use the HDMI out but not have the HD channels?

Thanks in advance

Yeah they all use the HD box now. You will get a few HD channels for free but not the ones you have to subscribe to.

+1 sky just send you the HD+ box now, you just cant get the non-freeview HD channels.

you cant playback recorded freeview HD channels though apparently.

Can you not? I haven't needed to do this yet might be worth trying though, what a silly idea this is...

i was told not in a thread on here not so long ago..

you can record them but not play them back apparently. i havent tested that though.

Just to confirm, you can record and playback all channels to which you have access, including HD ones :)

Thanks peoples :)

Might try find myself a Sky+ box to replace my old old old old old old pace box :D

if you're referring to a standard Pace Digibox then you'll need another cable installed. If you're talking about a Pace Sky+ box then you'll be fine but you'll need to call Sky and tell them you have a HD box but you DON'T want the HD sub.

Im talking about an old pace digibox, any idea how much the extra line will cost? I already have 2 lines upstairs (different rooms) and 2 lines downstairs (same room)

Id have to ring them anyway to change the card details to the new box anyhow.

BBC HD is fast becoming BBC2 HD since the release of BBC1 HD. All the good BBC2 programmes seem to be being aired on BBC HD.

So when we getting BBC2 HD?

Going to be a veeery long time.

The BBC can only release new channels when they're able to make them available on all platforms, i.e. digital terrestrial/satellite/cable.

The big barrier in the way of them launching new HD channels is the space available on terrestrial. They only managed to get BBC1 HD because Five gave up their allocation.

They already have a secondary HD channel though, which could easily be renamed. It appears to be taking up the role of BBC2HD anyway since BBC1HD came along. Pretty much as good as already, they have it right, show the HD bbc2 stuff on it, then leave it playing other HD content the rest of the time. Wasted space having upscaled SD stuff broadcast anyway.

Their aim is to increase the amount of HD output on BBC1 and use BBC HD to try and cover HD output from BBC2/3/4 before they can get more channels. The wasted space with the amount of upscaled content on BBC1HD should rapidly decrease next year.
