Just thought i would post that if anyone is thinking of upgrading their Sky+ / SkyHD Hard Drive and have not done so due to haveing to 'lose' all of their recordings should have a look at a program called CopyPlus as it allows you to clone your progrmas from one drive to another.

Just done this whilst installing a 500gb Sata in my HD box - works flawlessley. You can even decide what to / and not to copy over.

Select the item in the list, right click and choose 'omit' - i presume thats what the option is for?

didn't do that myself as i just cloned the entire disk.

Release 1.1.0.6 - November 2006 - Beta

Multithreaded drive copy - Thanks Neil.
Ability to select/deselect recordings to be copied.
Save/Restore image of Sky drive to local disk.
Minimise/Maximise window and dynamic window resizing.
Added graphics to Start button, and change button to act as Cancel during copy.
Correct for missing default dialog buttons - Oops.
Handle zero byte files with no FAT start cluster.
Do not copy recordings missing from the planner (resulted in null pointer exception).
Do not list RBF0 recordings in planner or copy RBF0 directory, even if it exists (temporary record buffers).
Ignore apparently stray video files in root directory (known Sky+ issue).
Account for adjusted Total Sector Count in BPB structure.

Cool, new feature. Even without it still a very useful program. Especially useful for getting around the FSR limitations as a few members have found when installing oversize disks.

There is also another program +Extract that allows you to back up FTA transmissions onto your pc for viewing / archiving to DVD etc.

VERY usefull.

What is the easiest size disc to install, or does it not matter?

I'd like some more space on my Sky+ box, but I don't want to buy a drive so big that I'll have to mess around with it.

goes by which sky+ box you have...i know a 250gb is the largest drive you can put in a pace 3100 pvr2

Have a read over here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=156344

I've justput a 250gb Hitachi/IBM drive in my mums Sky+ with no problems.

They say the best drives are the 5400rpm ones(Less Heat) - if you can find one.

lol really ?

we're allways running out of space, and actually had a load of stuff deleted when we went on holiday and it reached 0 % free. Will it be just a normal 5400 rpm IDE drive, or does it have to be a specific make ?
