Sky HD Upgrade

bloody heck anyone ever managed to get some money off when ringing them up?
I pay £50 a month without HD - I had 3 months half price sky sports pack - just need sport tbh I was paying £35 a month which is doable but I just feel anything above £40 is too high too much to be honest!!
always the new customers who get the best deals I know people who jump ship from virgin to sky year after year.
what about that £10 hd fee anyone ever got out of that?

Payed £299 for my first skyHD box in jan 2007
and payed £279 for my 1.5TB skyHD box about 3 weeks ago

All thats wrong there is your timing sucks.
Why the hell were you charged 279? Did you get it installed by an engineer im guessing.
Just read your post in the sky subscription thread mate. Im glad you got something good sorted out.
Im amazed you weren't sold a HD box tbh.
No i bought the box outright from a local retailer and installed it myself..(Just replaced my old HD box that died and phoned sky to pair the card.)
It the only place i could find in my island that sold skyboxes..
That sucks. If you had got it direct you would have saved 30 quid. Given the price of the box I doubt anyone would complain if you wanted a free install or it sent out via courier and refunded the cost essentially making that free as well.
If your old HD box died too if you were wanting to go multiroom a service call could have been sorted it and last i heard at work was if you book a service call on a multiroom install its free.
Still its a niiiice bit of kit isn't it!

this coming week I shall get it all sorted, just to clarify, I currently have the sky + set up (white box) is there any more cables that need running from the dish to the box for HD or is it just a matter of switching the plus box for the HD one? Theres an option for self set up for £15 which id rather do than pay £60 for set up.

yer I'm going to last out until summer time then once the premiership season (mainly use sky for sports) is over then I will threaten to cancel - won't really be needing sky until August - but basically in Aug 2011 they might have an offer available and that's when I'll get sky hd!

you should have threatened to cancel....... and tbh done it if they didn't give you anything decent
Just sorted it all out got the first HD box free, just had to pay £15 delivery, and £10 a month subscription, Also took sky's line rental, we had bt and were paying around £65 quartly, skys is £11 a month, which also halved our sky unlimited internet from £15 to £7.50 a month 
in a year were saving around £200 just from this, which pays for the subscription to HD and leaves an extra £80ish in the bank. better mine than theres, quite pleased

when really all the SKY 1TB box is the same as there Amstrad 500GB skyhd boxes with a 1.5TB drive fitted as standard and different firmware...
And they give them 500gb Amstrad HD boxes out for free...
