sky help

BT? Nasty long contract. :(

They shape during peak time too. I guess it will be OK if you schedule everything to off-peak.

yeah im changing:), phoned sky and complained and got them to cancel it along with the sky talk service, heres hoping bt are better

bt are just as crap in my area, iv changed from bt to sky then back to bt now im back on sky in the hope that one of them will give me a descent service

I'm in the same boat, but the again most of the people I talk to are having similiar problems unless they are on an LLU enabled exchange....

whats LLU ?

from Wiki,
Local loop unbundling (LLU or LLUB) is the regulatory process of allowing multiple telecommunications operators to use connections from the telephone exchange's central office to the customer's premises. The physical wire connection between customer and company is known as a "local loop", and it is owned by the incumbent local exchange carrier (also referred to as the "ILEC," "local exchange," or in the United States either a "Baby Bell" or an Independent telephone company). To increase competition, other providers are granted unbundled access

err thanks  im none the wiser lol

does it mean that bt dont have total control and priority over everyone else?

I think it means providers such as sky can put there own equipment in the exchange and so can supply their own service without involving bt, so it's cheaper and faster speeds, i used to have it where i lived and o how i miss it

That's about it in a nutshell...the other companies put there equipment into the exchange and thus you get there equipment. It's not always cheaper, and not always faster however. Actually, my exchange has just had it's first LLU go live but it's Talk Talk...and I've not heard any good reports from their service

I would reccommend looking at www.samknows.com for more information about your exchange and broadband in general...

You have more choice than that. :)

Of course you have more choice, but as it's not LLU to be honest there really isn't any point. I have tried so many times to get a better deal than BT and failed. Traffic shaping/management isn't really an issue for me as I schedule downloads. I think I do quite well speed wise as well! So, no real point in changing...
