I've had issues with my Sky Mesh for years since getting Sky Q, we have 2 minis and the top Sky Q main box alongside their latest router, I won't go into the detail on the issues but in essence I like Sky Fibres service but I'm fed up with the Sky wifi mesh. I'm looking at sinking some money into a replacement router and wondered....

1. Is this possible? last time I looked into this Sky wouldnt share usernames and passwords to allow you to do this, has their position changed?

2. What if any devices on the market would offer a reasonable step up in performance over the Sky SR203 Hub?

Ideally something with the fibre modem built in as I dont have socket or shelf space for two routers. Budgets not really an issue if it'll give a decent jump in performance and be reliable from a firmware and hardware POV.

Any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated.

1. Position has not changed, but you don’t need an individual username/password and haven’t for years, even when you did it was a 5 min job.

2. Device depends on your connection type, fibre is FTTP, but I suspect you are referring to FTTC, Sky also offer g.fast. Personally I would separate modem and router if at all possible, it makes life a lot easier and gives a much better hardware choice rather than being limited to a handful of options that include Sky’s DHCP 61 option.

Thanks, on reflection I think you're right, while its not ideal for where its situated, I think turning the sky into a modem is probably the best option!

We're FTTC, fairly decent 62mbps line, no fttp options sadly

I'm really not however very clued up with the router market these days, there are tons of options all of which have good reviews, is there one or two that are generally considered 'the best'?

Budgets not really an issue, I just want a solution that works, we're heavy internet users, many smart devices , ipads and of course sky Q beaming across the network too.

Any help and advice warmly appreciated!
