Sky LLU Worth a try?

Just a bit of an Update.

Been reading some threads on the skyuser forum, turns out I might be on the Sky Connect and not on LLU. Will ring them and ask them to move me onto that if a slot is available. Thanks for your input Mattey.

You are on LLU, your upstream connection shows that much. You could ask them to move you to G.DMT, as that should handle the long line length a bit better (your upstream would go down to 448kbps but you should gain a little downstream).

As Mattey suggested, try plugging in to the test socket. And try a wired connection to the router.

You'd be best starting a new thread to explore your problems :)

As to the question at hand: I've been on Sky's LLU since monday, and it's been great so far :D

The master socket in the house doesn't work for some bizzare reason. It has another socket next to it which does. It's always been like this even on a wired connection, it just gets throttled after 6pm.

That sounds a bit dodgy, have you removed the bottom half of the master socket. Behind that you should have another socket which is called the test socket and that is where you should test it.

We have about the same line length 57db and I get 5000-6000 kbps with o2, llu that is.

Have a look here

Yeah that's how my socket looks like, has a BT faceplate, but the one next to it, works. Which is strange. That socket hasn't worked since we moved here and that was years ago.

Hi

Currently with TalkTalk LLU and have had a good service for the past 18 months but contract time is up.

Sky have LLU'd my exchange and im tempted by this tripple offer (currently have sky HD so would bring costs down to have all 3 with this tripple offer they have)

Whats the LLU service like? Bandwidth capping? Im on 80GB limit a month atm and generally hit 30-40gb.

service speed is important, TT have been pritty contact with me able to max my download when i needed to.

thanks

If you get their broadband with telephone at the same time, the broadband only costs £7.50 (£15 without phone) so is very cheap for what u get.

Similar packages from BE are £17, O2 is like £12-15 (cheaper if u have an O2 mobile).

I went with sky for all 3, phone/tv/broadband, as its the best we can get in my area, sadly no cable/fttc yet.

You would never have to worry about download limits, sky don't advertise the max cap, but over at skyuser forum, its been reported to be like 250GB, iv even asked Teir 2 support staff about that in the past and they basicly confirmed it, so in essence no need to worry about downloads.

Phone service is very good, added bonus if u have all 3 services is, that when u call sky from a sky landline, its free, certainly helps when waiting in busy times lol.

My speed is'nt brilliant but thats down to line length and internal wiring, so nothing sky can do, i get the best possible connection they can give me, and there support is very good, not had to call them that often but when i have done, they have allways tried there hardest to rective any issues.

There isn't a cap on the LLU service. It is truly unlimited.

I've been over 250gb a few times (and some people on here have claimed a lot higher) and never heard anything from Sky so i think whoever reported that got it wrong.

Im only saying what iv been told by Teir 2 staff, they did say its not a strict limit like BT or others, its just like a trigger amount and if its over that constantly they would just talk to you, but not cap you.

So in essence its not a true cap, if its true or not well i don't know that, just passing on info that i was told by a senior sky tech.

They were speaking nonsense. :)
