Sky setup nightmare

Your only on standard ADSL speeds looking at that (due to upstream being 414kbps).. Are you not able to get ADSL2+ in your area? Which ISP are you with? If you went on to a ADSL2+ package your speeds should jump easily and be capable of around 4-6MB+.

For comparison, I'm with Sky on their ADSL2+ LLU network and my line attenuation is 54dB and my downstream sync varies between 4500-5000kbps, so you should be able to get even higher.

Have a look on the SamKnows link below at your exchange to see what you have enabled/available, let us know as well your exchange name so anyone else can have a look to and we can make suggestions.

Any suggestions would be great - my high ping and 1.4mb download speed are just not good enough Its delaying me buying my new PC

Ok thats done - in the mean time......any suggestions? Should I be blaming sky for my poor connection? its really annoying me!!!

Complain to Sky about poor connection, they should sort it, they can run tests on the line.

Should get around 7-8mb I reckon with that line attenuation, but it depend on the line quality.

7-8mb.....never had a speed as good as that! I will get on to them again tonight but I cant see them being able to help they have been pretty useless in the past

If no luck with Sky, you have Be, & they do 3 month contracts, which would take you up to June, & by then you might have Infinity available.

Out of interest what speed do Be quote you?

is it possible that they have reset your line to training mode, if so then the line speed will slowly increase over the next 10 days or so until it reaches it's maximum...

The problem still stands you are on ADSL speeds, and not ADSL2+ (your upload sync is 414kbps when it should be 800+)..

Ring Sky and ask them to do as 3dcandy said above and reset your line to training mode and also enquire if they have you setup on an ADSL2+ profile or if they have any caps set on your line to lift them.

Also, you have a date set for BT Infinity as 30th June so just over 2 months - when this is available, definitely jump on the band wagon and join - I've heard lots of great things.

I have spoken to sky and I am now getting about 5-6mb download speed which im happy with, now I just need to get my ping down from 60-80 to around 30 and I will be content!

and then my ping is lower? Why dont they just make the line as it should be from the off!!! I have called them about 8 times lol
