Just had a letter today from sky about their latest offer.Free local and international calls, and nothing to pay for 6 months (thereafter £5 a month)
Anyone here with them for their phone package, and is it any good? We are currently with BT for phone.
We have sky TV but not sky broadband (exchange not llu).

I have it but when i got it, it was free. I rarely ever use my home phone though as i have a hefty mobile contract. No issues here. :)

Switched to them after bt charged me for not using my phone each month. Also switched line rental last week as it was a quid cheaper :)

Edit - Actually im on a different tariff to what you are proposing, just free evening and weekend calls.

I'm looking at taking up Sky Broadband Unlimited with Sky Talk, and am considering the Sky line rental, but I have read many issues reported around the web. Also, I understand that it is expensive to then move away from Sky BB because I would have to pay BT to take my line back. Can anyone share knowledge or experience about this?

If I take Sky Talk, but keep BT line rental then am I obliged to use BT for a minimum amount of calls per month?

No - I have sky unlimited BB and sky talk with BT line rental; I don't actually use my home phone line (there isn't even a phone plugged into it) so my monthly calls with either are 0. The only reason I've got sky talk is that it gave me a 6 month discount on my BB cost when i signed up last year.

Don't ever sign up for skytalk, I used to work for them.

They re-sell Thus (used to anyhow) and the system they use for billing and implementation is broken. Sometimes customers wouldn't get billed for six months for phone calls and then out of nowhere their phone would be barred due to reaching their credit limit, but through no fault of their own they were unable to use the phone.

For serious guys, stay away. TBH, they might've improved. I did work for them several years ago.

Even with direct debit? I was going to go for the unlimited option. I am getting a bad feeling about their line rental though!
