*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

You're paying £11.21 for Sky Broadband? How? When line rental is like £14 - or £15 there about…

Sky Broadband isn't free unless you're an employee. Same with TV.

Sorry, I was ignoring line rental as you pay that no matter who you go with.

Well, on Monday I posted on here saying they offered me nearly 4 pound off my 74 pound tariff.

Yesterday guy rings up, enticing me to stay.

Offers me 45 quid a month for 12 months with no contract.

So I signed back up :)

Here's a question, can you pay your monthly sub all in one for the year? I don't have sky, but I'd rather pay it off all in one. Where I stay isn't great for aerials and by the time I got a satellite, someone to install it(I done it before but it's too much hassle) and a digi box, it would near enough be the same price as sky's basic package for the year. Plus I can upgrade the packages in the winter months.

Anyone with a newish 500gb HD box upgraded the hdd? I was kinda thinking about the 2tb model but the £150 put me off, my old Amstrad box has a 1tb hdd in which I guess I could use but would like to use a 2tb drive if possible, just not sure what the make and models are likely to be for the newish hd boxes?

I've just upgraded my Dad's box and used a 2TB WD Caviar Green drive, was a DRX-890 box which is Amstrad I think. So about £50 rather than Sky's ridiculous £150.

I dropped my multi-room as its hardly used, got 35% discount off the main viewing package then called 2 mins later and got fibre 40/10 for £5 a month plus line rental

Saved us £35 ish in total, might call and change the viewing package in a months time

If you are talking about Now TV then I don't think so. That said a reasonable amount of offers come in for the entertainment package which seems to apply to existing users as well. If you get a Chromecast then a number of them come with free 3 months at the moment - just check it is in the details when buying it.

How's everyone getting discounts, just telling sky it's too expensive at the end of the contract period?

Yep, the chap I spoke to even said, without me asking, what the earliest date was that I could call up and cancel again next year (30 days before the end of my discount), and advised me to put it in my diary.

No no, I've got now tv, I'm on about actual sky tv. I've got no problems with paying it up monthly. I'd just rather pay the basic package in one lump sum, then I don't have to worry about it. As I said, the price it costs for me to get a satellite, someone to install it and buy a decent freesat box. It'll be near enough the same price as getting sky's basic package for the year. Then I can always cancel it after the year or as people are saying, get a better offer.

Just resigned up myself today, on a rolling contract with first 10 months at £28 for sports, family HD etc and £100 Credit on account, so 3 months free and can then cancel effectively. Was a random call from one of the sky retentions team

Just to let you all know my sky TV and broadband was disconnected Dec 18th, and today 1 month later my sky email has been turned off as I cannot log in,

I kinda hoped I would get to keep my emails as I use it still :(

I think giving you an additional month was quite good of them, but using ISP-specific email services these days just seems like a bad idea anyway as you end up stuck if you want to change providers.

Maybe it was, even a quick email to let me know it was being switched off would have been nice, I was customer TV and broadband for 9years, I fall on hard times an just had to cut back on luxuries

I'm also thinking of swapping my 500gb drive to 2tb.
Is it a simply a case of swap the drive? What about partioning & formatting?
