*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

communal systems confuse me. our previous flat had 1 coax coming into the utility cupboard and then it had a small splitter (looked like this)which fed the 2 points in the lounge.

never had any problem recording/watching 2 separate programs.

It'll have been a stacker, the splitter shifts one of the feeds up the frequency range so that it can co-exist on the same coax run, at the other end of the single run the distribution amplifier will shift it back down to the normal range :)

ah i see :)

whats a good budget freesat box at the moment, preferably with twin tuners? doesnt need a huge amount of space, dont really record much.

can anyone clarify if I cancel my sky subscription - leave the cards in the hd boxes - what is the full channel lists I would get via the boxes?

pretty much squat, you get less than freeview unless you pay £25 one off for a freeview viewing card.

i might just add the sports when we get it all installed. and see if i can blag any more off a 50% Discount when i do it. Not holding much hope though

Sorry for my amateurishness question, but how did you manage to get a 50% discount? Does this include internet as well?

Im looking at all the options and id prefer sky but not at its full price!

Thank you

if youre out of any cancellation penalty time scale then you essentially phone them up and threaten to leave. they offered to half the cost of my package for 6 months when i cancelled.

warning though, this did back fire on someone i know as they just said "okay" and offered no deals :D

Thanks for your quick reply

Sorry i should have been more clear, i am not in any cancelation period.

Im looking to start a new account? Whats the best way to get the best discount?

Just cancelled my TV , still have BB and Phone. Gone from £75 pm to £36.75 which is really good. Thats £460 a year which is more than a chunk of change.

No real need for 'live' tv anymore when the likes of Netflix exist. They did offer basically £10pm off to try and keep me with tv but no crazy discounts.
