*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Thanks nice one, I am planning on dropping the TV soon.

I would be OK with 50mb / landline. (not too fussed on landline but if it's cheaper)

I think the price difference between keeping the landline was £1 :D
I don't even have a phone plugged in for the landline, but you never know when it may be useful.

Just got off the phone with cancellations, pretty disappointing.

Currently pay
Sky TV Family £33
Sky Fibre £20
Sky Talk Weekends £17.40
Total £70.40/month

They offered me a £10 discount on my TV for 12 months and 1/2 price fibre for 6 months (stating I can call up in 6 months to get a further offer).

Means £50.70 for 6 months then I need to hope for another fire deal or be stuff with £60.40 for the remaining 6 months.

Sounded like there was nothing extra they would do for me.

Just got off the phone again with them and accepted their new offer:

Sky TV Family £28.50
Sky Fibre £10
Sky Talk Weekends £11.40
Total £50.90/month

Until Jan, then I can ring up and play this game again. So a £20/month saving and keep everything I have.

i need to renegotiate my virgin media asap any advice would be welcomed

Pretty much the same as most above..
Tell them you want to leave as you can no longer justify the cost especially with the recent increase
If you get no where, just cancel there and then
But virgin as far as i know will not call you with an alternative offer
I said for what i pay i can get infinity and bt sport, they instantly took £11 a month off my bill

I'm currently paying £21 for TV and sports, had a £100 credit to which just ran out.

I'll ask for same deal or I'll cancel!

just wondering people who have got a great deal from threatening to leave (i got £33 for the full tv package for 12 months) have you got the same deal after the 12 months or have you had to go back up to full price? or just left?

I got 75% when I joined sky
I was told this will go up to £90 when my contract ends in July , I hope to get the same 75% deal again , if not I will be leaving and just keep my Fibre broadband at £10 per month

mine is 7 months away but around a month or so before i will start shopping around if they don't redo the same deal. i was ready to move to virgin not just threatening as they did provide a better deal, even after sky did their initial leavers discount, its only because they gave me 60% off that i did stay.

Anyone know if there's still Family / Friends discount? We're ending Sky this month due to pricing.

It seems to work out cheaper, including line rental for BB with other companies such as Plusnet and go NowTV for our Entertainment (HD) needs.

Was paying £47, now hiked to £55 and will be at full price (£60) plus line rental by May.
I did keep the F1 HD from 2 years ago, that's the only reason holding me to Sky for TV.

Sky broadband & TV -question

So basically Ive been with Sky 2 years now, and the bill has rised by £4 and £2 again recently to "improve service" bla bla bla, imo its overpriced. I heard if you call them and say you want to cancel and move to a different provider, they give you an offer or a cheaper deal for your service? Is this true? any examples of the deals lol? does it work if anyone here has done this.
Cheers

Like any company that has a 'voluntary' service they're in the business of keeping customers. The problem is that Sky's customer base is only increasing and churn is at it's lowest level for years. That's why there are so few retention offers going around.

As for the chap saying there's an equivalent service for cheaper, it depends what you want out of your TV. If you want Sky Atlantic for Game of Thrones then you're stuck with either Sky or NowTV, which is basically Sky on an 'On Demand' basis. Same goes for all 5 Sports channels and the F1. Some are available elsewhere but generally more expensive.

If you leave them eventually they will offer you ridiculous deals. The longer the time goes on the more ridiculous they get.

What I do is join sky, leave after the initial 12 month deal is up then join virgin. Leave after the initial 18 month deal is up then join Sky. So on and so forth.

That way I get the best deal (new customers usually get 50% discount plus £200 cashback through quidco) plus new up to date boxes, etc all for free.

I left sky nearly 9 months ago and now they are offering me 50-60% off plus £200 of credit towards the bill.

I will take a similar offer up when my virgin deal ends near december time.

Your throwing money away by staying loyal. You have to actually leave them to get the best deal don't pretend your going to leave they already know that tactic.

When I was leaving they offered me about £10 off per month. I told them the deal virgin offered me as a new customer and there was no way they could match it. But after 3 months I started getting 50% off emails and letters through the door.

You can also leave Sky after 12 months then sign up as a new customer in your partners, brothers, mothers, etc name instead and you qualify for new customer deals too, so you don't need to switch between virgin and sky like i do.

Nothing they offer over the phone is as good as ordering yourself as a new customer because of the cashback you get through quidco.

Sky currently offering £150 cashback on quidco (fluctuates wildly)

Virgin offering £125 (fluctuates wildly)

You will never get cashback trying to negotiate over the phone, etc. Leave them and rejoin as a new customer.

Looks like it's bye bye sky for the next 18 months.

Gone Plusnet Fibre Extra, Freeview HD via Xbox One and on demand services inc Netflix and NowTV Entertainment. Works out a lot cheaper. No F1 though ):
