SKY update breaks anytime TV and crashes boxes

Posted from another forum:

hi guys i have just rung sky and got through to a nice lady who has given me information literally a couple of mins ago, so im posting for people who cant get through.
they say they are aware of the problem and working to fix it.
its a software bug that was sent as a update to all our boxes and is causing the problems.
they tried to send a updated patch last night, but it did not work the lady told me.
she advised me to just disable anytime and wait for the software there working on to be resent to the boxes.
so im just going to switch anytime off altogether now and keep checking the system epg software details midweek, and see if the software has been applied.
hope this helps guys!

Turned off Anytime, rebooted box and turned it back on.

To be honest I hardly use it, but I'm glad it wasn't just my box :o

I would presume with this though that when it downloads the certain programs it would cause issues again on anytime?

At the time I had no idea that it was widespread issue, only that the wife found a way to crash the box.. so I took action to prevent further damage.

Can't do a full reset as it has a 1TB drive. Hoping it's fixed in the near future.

Hmm just seen this and am on 9.10.13a. Am I ok if I just don't access the anytime section or am I best off fully disabling it for now? No problems with box for now but don't want any as I too am on a 1TB box and really don't want to wipe it.

Best to just disable anytime for now, problem is still around im busy trawling through the forum I got the original info from at the moment ...... funny how the thread on their has grown really quickly.

Glad I never wasted my time phoning them. Will just wait it out I think, Sky have a nasty habit of doing this. Infact when I worked there, even when this happened they would still charge for call outs!

Well i wasted about a minute of my life fast forwarding though that 5 minutes of nothing lol. I dunno what i was expecting? Maybe some person from sky saying sorry.

That's because it's not a box breaking fault that requires replacement. You can turn anytime off, reboot the box and turn it back on again and it's fixed.

Not talking about this case, but others. Where there was a fault that had been caused with older boxes and they had no intentions to fix them but replace the box.

Would still charge customers and stick their fingers in their ears going lalalalalla.

But mines is working now :)
