Slashed.

Gutted for you mate. So many chav scum bags about these days. Always worry about where I leave my z4 parked for this very same reason. Been lucky so far though (touch wood). If its a clean cut you'd be surprised how good a professional repair job would look. My roof has a small repair to it that I didn't even notice for the first year of ownership.

My rear plastic screen got done the other day too, no idea if it split, or it was knifed. A nice 6" vertical gash right in the middle. Bugger.

Will give me the opportunity to change for a glass rear screen though, the shoulders had started to rub away and very slight holes were showing.

For the time being, I can't afford the new roof, so I've had to tape it using some clear tape and strong adhesive to make it water tight. Yes it' a bodge but it'll do whilst I'm saving up :( At least it'll give me the chance to upgrade to a glass screen rather than plastic.

On such a small island I'd hope someone would at least know and get something done about it. :(

Sorry to hear that - it's such a shame people still do things like this. :(

Take it to a sailmaker they will be able to do wonders!

Back in the day when a had a Suzuki SJ410 all the stitching on my soft top started to go and it generally looked knackered, left if with a local sailmakers for a couple of days and it was as good as new :)

At least take it to see what they can do before you start gluing it up etc.

Sucks man. I saw your post over at S2KI.
I reckon the cheapest way would be to get yourself on a ferry and get the car over to that guy down in Swansea. £260 for a full roof is a damn good deal.
If you want to get it done fast while you're there, cut out your rear screen and post it to him ahead of schedule (or buy a used screen and post that). Then he can make the roof up before you get there and it's only a couple of hours for him to fit it.

I'm going to treat my S2K to a new roof next year I think. It's starting to look a little faded and is wearing in the usual places.

I'd ask the guy who approached you if he had noticed anyone else around your car, then mention the slashing. See how he reacts

When you've got the cash for a new roof, speak to Jack Smith's in Swansea. They'll be able to send you a brand new mohair roof for a pretty good price :)

Personally,
Report it to the police. Inform them of the situation. Add in the little bit about the bloke round the corner barricading you in like a busy body idiot.
Let them join the dots, and MAYBE (Unlikely) they will turn up at his door, Just basically say that after talking to this man about the reasons behind this and returning to the car it was damaged.
Hopefully he will admit it when the police arrive at his door as he sounds like a social retard..

But obviously the likelhood of them doing anything about it is slim.

No chance will the cops be even remotely interested. They have far more important things to do.....like catching people doing 5mph over the speed limit, eating doughnuts and organising their Christmas party :p

I know how you feel mate, about 3 months ago some.... **** decided to slash my back tyre, all the way down the car and then the front tyre as well, never go out is didsbury again!

Stelly

Sadly this is true.

Having said that when my door was bent open they were going to pop around and dust for prints.
My car was forcably pushed out of its space after the intruder released the handbrake.
Again I have my suspicions as to who did it.
But the police never turned up :(

Sorry to hear you've had vandalism problems too. It just isn't worth calling the cops anymore. They really couldn't give a damn about this sort of thing. Just have to suck it up unfortunately. Sad when you can't have anything nice without fear of some jealous ***** wanting to ruin it for you :(

Sometimes in stuff like this I wish you could just call their bluff and say you caught them on camera, walk over with gopro in hand they'll probably not know better. If they say nothing walk off, but then if it was them they'd probably do something else :(

It will be interesting to see the reaction on the guys face who you think it was when you ask him if he saw anything suspicious. He seemed to notice you parking there so he must be looking out the window all day with f all else to do! Oh apart from slashing soft tops.

Sorry to ehar that OP, bloody shocking :(

Would probably be worth asking him about, maybe mention you are going to report it to the police and wanted to know if he had any information which might be helpful.

Thanks :)

yeah it does suck.

The worst thing for me is my car is quite well looked after and the door was minty McMint.
Took me about 9 months to find one in similar condition, which i paid something like 110 quid for. Not bad but annoying all the same.

As they moved the car out of my space onto double yellows I also had to challenge two 80 quid parking tickets. Which luckily i got off.
