Sleep

When you get woken up i.e. by an alarm you could be mid way through a sleep cycle and this is when you feel tired. You could have less sleep but wake up coming out of a sleep cycle and still feel better.

That's basically what I said in the OP.

By the way, not everyone has an iPhone.

I don't think you can safely say that sleep periods last XYZ because as already mentioned, everyone will vary, I need about 9 hours of sleep in order to wake up just before my alarm clock goes off.

I work shifts. Nights and days. Impossible to get decent sleep. :(

4 days on 4 days off shift work is good because you get 4 full days off but no good when you are knackered all day and wide awake at 4am on your days off.

Urgh, these posts bring back memories! So glad I'm not doing shifts any more and hope I never have to do them again.

Going to sleep at 7am only to be woken up by someone knocking on the door at 11am is not pleasant. It's been over a year since I stopped doing them but I think they have left some long-term problems behind.

I had a work iphone at the time so I tried it for the lulz but wasn't sure if it was an iphone only app.

I normally have pretty regular sleep going to bed at 11.30 and waking up at 7, but I'm currently on holiday and my sleep pattern it all over the place after staying up all night to watch the Amir Kahn fight. What impressed me this morning was being woken up early by my phone vibrating. I seem to take in everything that's going on while i'm asleep but only wake up when it needs my attention :)
