Sleeping Dogs - GTA Meets Yakuza?

With the countering, the thing with it is you can't spam the counter if you press the counter button and "fail" to counter (ie pressing it to early) then it leaves Wei exposed for a second or so and as such cannot counter again for a brief time. There is a talent upgrade that reduces the recover time tho :)

The answer is to not spam triangle. To be honest I think it's a smart mechanic as it stops you just mashing the counter button and never ever taking a hit.

It took me a while to figure out because it's not really explained to you.

The driving is a little too arcadey for my liking, I actually liked the driving mechanic in GTA IV, it felt more natural to me.

It's not a game breaker though and once you get used to the very rigid/on rails sort of feel it's fine, I got so used to the GTAIV and Episodes driving that this felt a little weird to begin with but definitely getting used to it now. Game is great otherwise, beats GTA in many areas imo.
 
Lived on this the past couple of days, only missing a few gold medals to complete the game fully. Stupid cockfighting is .... ANNOYING! /grumble

Great game though, love the driving and combat!
 
I have to say I have been really enjoying this. The driving is a bit arcading but I got used to it really quickly and its quite fun. The combat is awesome and feels slick.

Good game all in all. Well worth the RRP imo.
 
I've been playing it solidly over the weekend and its a very good game. Lots of fun, plenty to do, good story, decent graphics. I'm loving the Karaoke too even though its properly 'WTF' :eek:

Yeah the driving physics are a little bit of a let down, but the driving is still fun, so that can be forgiven. The fighting and shooting are brilliant though.

Probably about right at 8.5/10 from what I've played so far and I've just got into my new apartment.

Played it at a friend's, this is definitely one of those rare games that inexplicably get reviewed less well than it really does.
