A friend has decided to build his first PC, (a shuttle) and bought an Asus 8800gt to go inside. Unfortunately he unknowingly got the model with a chunky aftermarket cooler on it (looks a bit like a Zalman) and it won't fit the shuttle, (he can't put the door on).

The shop he bought it from won't let him return it as he's opened it up so he's got two options; put it on the bay or find a cooler that's as thin as a reference hsf. I'm happy to fit it for him but can't think of anything that'll do the job, anyone got an ideas?

Thanks in advance.

look into the HR-03, it can be mounted so that its folding over the card onto the backside of the card so if there are space constraints over the front of the card the hr-03 may be what your looking for.

other than that, im sure you can get hold of a reference single slot cooler from members market or from anyone who has done away with the stock cooler for a better performing cooler.

Mav's right ^

Check how much space is available around the card.

The Thermalright HR-03 will allow mounting in two directions. One is over the GPU core and the other is on the reverse side of the card as pictured below:

The HR-03 sticks out way above the top of the card. Was the other cooler too tall for him to close the door? If that's the case, i doubt the HR-03 would be any better.
