Slow and freezing issues

Hi all,

Am looking for some advice to find out what could be causing my computer to not perform as it use too.
I am constantly getting slow loading and freezing on my desktop. When purchased I was able to play games on high settings with no problems at all, now it can only cope with low settings to run smoothly.

Also while playing a game (world of warcraft mainly) and trying to browse the web in the background or even open my desktop/documents or any folder it sometimes takes 5 mins before loading this up, whereas previously it would be instant.
I also once was able to play 3 versions of the game on medium settings and browse webpages etc with absolutely no problems, now I can't even open 2 without even having a browser window open due to becoming unplayable with frames dropping low/high constantly. Even as said just having the one open and trying to browse the web is an absolute nightmare.

This has been happening now for around 6 months.

I have so far done a computer re-installation, virus checks with NOD32 before doing so which showed clean, but re-installed to make sure, made sure all drivers where updated and still no luck.

I'm sure you will need more information so please let me know what and I shall reply asap. Once I know where the problem might be then hopefully I can fix it.

Thanks.

If you could post up the specs of your pc :)

I got this information from dxdiag after a search on how to find all computer specifications :)

Could be a number of things really - Hardware or software related.

Does it lockup at any point? What specifically are you doing while the 'freezing' occurs? Have you ran any tests?

Usually it's while gaming and then trying to open a folder or browse the web at the same time, it just goes extremely slow, sometimes even waiting a minute or 2 before the folder opens, which use to be instant.
Have had complete freezes also where the mouse cursor does not even move that lasts around 30 seconds to a minute.
Also while in game sometimes my fps goes really low at the start and then stabilises.

So this issue has been happening all the time and the fresh install hasn't fixed it?

If so I'd be looking towards either your hard drive or RAM. Check the SMART data on the hard drive with CrystalDiskInfo and check the RAM using Memtest86+.

Here is the information from CrystalDiskInfo, I can't seem to download Memtest, do you have a direct link to the download please? Then I shall upload that information.

If CrystalDiskInfo is reporting the hard drive as 'Good' then there's no need to worry.

Memtest86+ needs to be run outside of Windows and doesn't provide any output (It will however display a red error code within the software - Basically if you see red your RAM is faulty).

Here is a link to the USB key installer for Memtest86+ http://www.memtest.org/download/4.20/memtest86+-4.20.usb.installer.zip
You'll need to boot from the USB stick to run it - It will start automatically and usually takes around an hour to do a full pass.

Thanks, I don't actually have a USB stick, so would need to go get one before I can run this test?.
