slow browsing when dloading

Been noticing that if I download anything, browsing is impossibly slow - as soon as the download stops, fine and fast
using firefox on Ntl 10meg, also Keiro firewall.....any ideas - could it be the firewall settings somewhere

downloading divX software at 140k sec stopped everything else?

ps. ah yes its Keiro, disabled firewall and getting 5 meg sec and normal browsing - so any ideas what settings in Keiro may be causing this? suppose it must be some sort of traffic logging etc???

I am not going to be super helpful here, cause I barely used kerio, but.

If possible, trying altering the security level and checking firewall permissions. If that don't work, assuming you havent paid for kerio, try downloading zonealarm free or something similar, and seeing if you still have the same problem with that.

Also, be certain that the windows SP2 firewall is off.
 
cheers Dark, I think I found the problem, Kerio had 'web filtering' enabled which when turned off, seemed to fix it

It would have been trying to filter and effectively monitor every internet activity you were doing.

Obviously this is overkill and also a large drain on your system resources, resulting in lower transfer speeds and impossible browsing.

So it could either be too low system resources for the program to operate that function, or the program isn't up to operating to 10meg speeds!
