Hey peeps,

Just wondering what your recommendations would be for a set of 2.0 desktop speakers that aren't garbo?

Usage:
- mostly youtube banter channels if I'm honest
- also music and gaming

Desirable:
- compact enough to sit behind/under monitors
- accessible volume control (not on the cord down the back of the desk... what idiot invented that?)
- headphone pass-through
- USB powered is always nice
- don't turn themselves off when 'no signal' (a.k.a. it's 1am and the volume is real low)

Undesirable:
- made by Creative (I've found them terribly prone to failure)

Thanks!

I think you're going to struggle with small and decent for £50 but not Creative. For small and decent there's almost no alternative to Creative T20, without going larger and more expensive.

M-Audio AV32 are possibly the best alternative, but they are £80.

Mmkay, well, I can up the budget if necessary. Appreciate the recommendation :)

It really depends on what size you can accommodate.

If the AV32's are too big at 13cm wide, then the only speakers I can think of that are similar in size to the T20's are Bose Companion 2 SIII for about £90. Not particularly good value like most Bose products. Better speakers can be had for similar money, but such a small size does have limited amount of choice.
