I think its one of them shows you pick up now and again on a lazy weekend, as you flick through etc. I thought it was ok, so I decided to buy the 1-7 season box.

Now I absolutely love it! I have seen all 7 seasons, and caught upto season 8 episode 18 this year alone!

Do you guys like it?

Whats been your favourite season or episode? Who do you like in it?

At first I was all for the Clark / Lana story, but thankfully Lois came onto the scene and I think its been better in itself since they did bring Supermans' 'Lois' into it considering the general story of superman.

I for one think Erica Durance plays a cracking character, specially in season 7 and defiantly season 8 where it seems Clark / Lois are finally seeing each other as the 'one' - the stolen moments during season 8 have been aimed at Lois finally realising she loves Clark, although I think he's holding back?

Season 9 has been confirmed, and hopefully a tenth but I cannot see it going beyond this.

I certainly would like to see Lex back, but maybe as a friend for Clark before it all finishes but thats doubtful.

This doomsday story though has been rather poo, but looks like it is building to a point in next weeks episode and to the end of season 8.

Whatcha all think of it?

I liked the storylines where there were no meteor freaks. Just evil dad and evil son interaction.

John Glover played Lionel Luther to perfection. He will be sorely missed.

Season 8 is mostly dire. :(

Read the background storey, Lana has always been Clarks High School Sweet Heart and ends up becoming her own super hero.

The Doomsday story is one of the most significant in all of Superman history as he is the only person ever to have killed Superman.

I used to watch it then stopped, now I watch it every now and again on 4OD after I have got through all of My Name Is Earl.

I love it although I almost gave up during Season 7. I think the doomsday storyline in season 8 has been pure win! Its completely opposite end of the scale compared to last years season. Glad theres gonna be a ninth season now at first I wasn't, but that was just due to season 7 being made of poo. It also feels like they're gonna break the no flight rule soon, they're dropping flying into the plot more and more often (i hope!)

I only watch it because I need finality.

They use too many fillers and appeal to "trendy" types, music, catch phrases, current affairs etc.

Every ep is the same.
Meteor freak, Insert <Lois/Chloe/Llana> in danger, Clark saves the day, not before he gets paralyzed by some Kryptonite, <Lois/Chloe/Lana> pushes it away, Clark Smash! Insert Moral of the story, cue music, kiss, credits.

The story episodes get progressively fewer and farther between.

Years ago I may have had the intellect to not care so much but now I've outgrown the show and It hasn't kept up, it's still appeals for younger people in a way, they need to introduce more "grit".

This is from someone who has every episode.

I'm sick of it, but I need to know everything so I don't miss out and get confused when they finish it.

Oh, and the Doomsday storyline is like the carebears.

Ive been watching it for years and they are running out the stories now. Its almost the same every single week. I think season 9 will be the last.

Doomsday Vs Superman fight should be soon and im not looking forward to it because i know it will be lame. Doomsday looks so stupid in that costume he looks dumb fighting. It will only be good if the Justice League are there to help.

SPOT ON!!!!

exactly how i think, at first it was cool. "ooooo what power they got" then it was like, "ah that power again except there calling it something else or they got a different way.

and yes the fact that virtually none of the episodes are ever linked to each other basically makes calling small ville a television "series" a disgrace. Am telling you if you haven't ever watched an episode of smallville all you need to do is watch the first and last 2 episodes from each series and you will have the jist of that series cause thats the only cohesion in the whole thing.

Brings a tear to my eye! :o:p

It certainly would be a happy ending if they can write this properly, obviously not over several seasons because theres one 1 or 2 left, so no dragging it out like they did with Clark / Lana.

They know how to stretch out a story as good as Eastenders lol.

Seeing Lois in season 7/8 they still don't seem to fully integrate her into the story as much as Chloe has been throughout? Lana too. So I hope they include her in all the next season 9 episodes!.

Anyway, I'm off for a cry. :(

Used to be good back in the day. It's crap now but as stated, I watch it just to see it through basically.

They don't even have Kristin Kreuk in it now :(

yup, it was almost great the first few years but got worse and worse. Lana is just awful, incredibly hot, but the worst actress pretty much ever. She actually had very little character in the first few years and next to no "lana" eps which helped the show immensely. When they hit uni it just got completely and utterly ridiculous, Lana as a vampire was almost more ridiculous than Kristin Kreuk as an actress.

the bird whose name eludes me this second, the 90210 bird with a plastic face who can't act to save her life, Aquaman and lots of others are just such inept actors. Lex was actually a very good actor but after the first few years the stories became crap, predictable and very very poorly writen.

Durance is hot, to say the least, but not exactly a great actress though in fairness she came in around the time the writing became corney horsedung.

Take out the Lana, Chole, Jimmy focused eps, cut the terrible acting sidekicks and stop writing the same tripe morality messages into the show and it could be good again, but it won't.

Watching it, painfully, wincing, just to see the end.

I love this program!!! It is amazing. I've been watching it since season 2! I have the box sets 1 - 4 still need to get the rest. This season has been epic, Everything seems to be falling into place now. Although I feel it has come away from what it used to be. Shame that it has, but as a Superman fan I find it all epic. I do wish they would go back to what it used to be like.

How do you guys think it will all end?? I heard theres that no fly rule and him not wearing the superman suit which the creators said, dont really know if thats true or not!

I dont even think he will be called superman before the end of the show. I really do not have any idea how they will end it. Maybe he might start his training for the 10 years or so.

But maybe this is his training at the moment, as smallville is so different from the orignal Superman movie storyline.

I haven't watched any of series 8, but that's because I prefer to buy the boxed sets and watch them all together. I've always been a huge Superman fan so Smallville is a nice way to pass the time. Luckily, I'm not one of those people who moans and cries when something isn't exactly as it was in the comics, or a super-villain has a new power. I just sit back and turn off my brain for 40 minutes - entertaining enough for me :D

Your easily pleased then, I thought the end of season 8 was the biggest let down ever. I mean all the build up to the big fight with Doomsday and it was over within seconds

Dont get me wrong i was disapointed as i was expecting a huge fight but all we saw was an explosion.

I mean the ending ending where the man comes out of the Orb with Mercer at the window

I used to love the show but the last series or so has been a bit meh and I've stopped watching it. The best bits were the Lana/Clark interaction, when they finally got together it was brilliant. Then Lana went all wierd, got with Lex and eventually ended up totally strange, that's when it went downhill rapidly. :(

Guess I may start watching it again (think I was up to around season 7) but probably at christmas or something.
