Smart phone advise for a noob

Stuff I've cut for space

You missed out some stuff. You have to press on a resistive screen for it to register. On some devices you had to press quite hard. The level of pressure you have to put on the device changes the tactile feedback you get from it.

Imagine signing your name with a pen. Then imagine signing your name with a stylus through carbon paper. One is natural, the other is not.

With a capacitative screen you swipe across it with or without pressure. With a resistive screen you have to push on the screen. Under these conditions your finger is more natural and accurate, the stylus is less accurate not because of the hardware but because you are doing an unnatural action.

There is no discussion to be had about resistive and capacitive screens, one is old and annoying, the other is newer and better in every way.

I had a resistive P990 with stylus, it had hand writting recognition and drawing pad ect and it was pretty accurate. I do like the screen on my desire I just got but its annoying as hell to pin point anything say using a measuring app. try to move your finger away from a screen with 0.5mm accuracy was not easy when the static would shift the line when you moved your finger away.

I know I missed a few, you didn't really add any ethoir, as it depends on the device.
I have not seen a multitouch resistive screen yet unless I was not paying attention.
