Smart tv accesss network drives?

Got a samsung k5500 32inch tv 2 days ago. Have not had much time with it.
Is it possible for these tv.s to access films shared on network drives?

I got a hp microserver with the amd dual core cpu. What will work with that?

ok so iv come across some apps called serviio and Plex.
not much mentioned on cpu requirements. but do these apps transcode the videos or stream them direct?
I prefer not to transcode, will loose quality and usually needs more cpu grunt.

Just an update. Im using serviio on the microserver and all is working great.
