Smashing Pumpkins touring UK

They were the first band I ever saw when I was 17 at the now sadly gone, Mayfair in Newcastle.

I just bought a ticket to see them again at Newcastle O2 in Nov, Nearly 20 years later. The only original member is the singer, they will probably be doing mostly the 'new album' meh!
I think I must be mental parting with £40 for the privilege...and it's on a Monday night as well.

Anybody else going/have an opinion etc?

Corgan is an arrogant madman who hasn't recorded anything good since Machina, and even that was patchy.

There was one good track on Machina II. Otherwise I agree wholehearedly. The Smashing Pumpkins was Billy + Jimmy. This is a vanity project wankfest.

oh goodness yes

I saw thema couple of years ago, when jimmy was still with the band, after seeing them maybe 18 or so years ago.

As part of their encore they did Cherub Rock, and it was utterly immense.
His voice can still cut glass, he is a quite the showman, I was impressed after all these years. It was good.

Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness and Adore are both great, particularly the first disc of the former.

Siamese Dream is, apparently, excellent, but I have not actually listened to it.

Saw them on their farewell tour at the nec. They did a basic set with little crowd interaction and no encore, they good but the show certainly lacked.

Seriously? It's one of my to ten favourite albums of all time... Cherub Rock, Rocket, Mayonnaise, Geek USA, Today....

Anyway disarm was on siamese dream, great song, cherub rock, today, all excellent.

I loved Machina, stand inside your love, I of the mourning, try try try, amazing songs. I also liked Zeitgeist!! Not listened to much since then though. Never saw the pumpkins so I would be up for seeing them!

Nope it's on Siamese. Gish is Siva, I Am One, Rhinoceros etc.

£40 is too much for a band that is far past its best... I saw them on their Siamese Dream tour and I don't think I want to sully the memory.

You want modern Smashing Pumpkins... buy the Zwan album and listen to that and call it a day.

As a fan of Muse I know it's hard to find good music due to Muse melting your mind, but yes Smashing Pumpkins have written some fantastic songs
