Smashing Pumpkins

I absolutely used to love Smashing Pumpkins '93 - '97 and still listen to them.

my fave album is Siamese Dreams - and fave track Mayonaise

Their b sides album Pisces Iscariot has 2 other tracks I really like, Blew Away and the Stevie Nicks cover of Landslide :)

I like the Pumpkins, Siamese Dreams is always the album of choice. My personal favourite is Cherub Rock :)

Definately one of my favourite bands, been listening to mellon collie and the infinite sadness a lot lately and for a double album theres so much quality on there, the title track, tonight tonight, 1979, bwbw, xyu, an ode to no one, thru the eyes of ruby, zero, jelly belly, where boys fear to tread, here is no why.

Some amazing stuff on that album, saw them touring to support it, must have been about 96/97, we turned up at the NEC without tickets and a mate talked a tout down and we got some for less than face value. Seen hundreds of bands since but that was still the best live show Ive ever seen .

Adore is really underrated, so many awesome tracks there. a lot darker and a change in sound than the rest of the pumkpins albums but some truly epic music to be listened to. I wasnt that keen on adore when i first listened to it but its grown on me immensely.

I've been into The Smashing Pumkins since 1992 and they will go down as my most loved band ever I think. It's pretty sad to hear some of their new stuff though, they really should have stayed split.

Nobody seems to like Zwan who I also loved. Saw them in London when they were over here and it is still one of my favorite gigs ever, way better than they Pumpkins farewell tour. I saw Billy Corgans solo show in London a few years earlier and realised it was all over. Was standing next to a guy who kept shouting mayonaise & kept telling me the gig was rubbish, couldn't not agree with him.

I was over the moon when I heard they were reforming until I got my hands on the new album. Somebody bought my copy cheap on ebay a few days after I bought it.

Gotta agree with Madkjb about Adore, can't say it's my favorite from them but it's one of them. Very strong album.

I think I had that album kicking around, Honestly was alright.

XYU my favourite song though, with Zero and Cherub Rock following behind closely.

I've always liked them in passing but really got into them when I heard Zeitgeist. I know it didn't get brilliant reviews, but it was my album of 2009. 'That's the Way My Love Is' is awesome.

Zeitgeist is a good album, its not great, but its not bad either. loses its way a little over the 2nd half of the album, but the drumming is IMMENSE - by far the best by Jimmy.

loved Mary Star of the Sea by Zwan too, Pumpkins on happy pills :p.

The Future Embrace though......

Ive actually been ignoring the pumpkins on my mp3 player recently, i know im in that mood where if i listen to one song, then thats it, its just pumpkins pumpkins pumpkins for about a month - and im also still laughing at Billy and Jessica Simpson too much to take him seriously at the moment.

Anyone watch the recent film/dvd? Would only recommend it for the hardcore fan. I went to the London showing, was really interesting looking into the band (well BC\JC) with that on the fly look. Shows billy in a good light, i guess it would have to or he wouldnt have released it. It had some really cool bits in it. My fav was the crazy pumpkin fan who went to billy with a cast of his head/face or something then billy played a little something on guitar for her to say thanks. She was proper crazed fan and you could tell billy was laughing at her but it wasn't in a horrible way. Made me laugh in the cinema. It sort of makes you feel abit sorry for him in ways and other musicians etc. Deffo worth a watch for the fans.

Love the pumpkins also, saw tham about 2 years ago, new sound live has incredibly deep bass, moves walls. Old stuff they played was still as phenominal as ever, he voice could cut through glass, it is incredible.

incase any of you are interested, just checked my unread mails and noticed the first 2 songs from Teargarden by Kaleidyscope have been released (all 44 songs will be free downloads)

first 2, A Song for a Son & Widow Wake My Mind are here:
http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/

Edit 1: Song for a Son, far too proggy my liking and just doesnt seem to 'click'. First few seconds got me quite happy/excited as the piano sounds like the 'Tonight Reprise' part at the back end of Farewell and Goodnight.

edit 2: just dont like Widow...., sounds like a Zwan song that didnt even make B side spec and was cast away.

heres hoping the remaining 42 songs improve.
