Some of the Chalet's in La Plagne are stuck on the mountain side between roads with what is basically a woodland path to get down from, although they do have easy access to the upper road from what I recall. This path was bloody lethal when I was there and you definetly want some footwear with decent grip if you're staying in one of the affected Chalet's.
Also as another note on wearing snowboard boots out, unless they've changed since I last went most have a fairly significant amount of forward lean which will make it very uncomfotable to stand in on flat ground without rocking back onto your heels.
