So and so gamer: is it worth the GTX over the GTS 640?

I was about to order the 8800 GTX but suddenly hesitated. I don't do that much gaming, frankly, but I am not averse to a bit of Flight Sim FSX and I like the look of C+C and Bioshock and would want to play these on my 2407 I hope to get in a couple of months.

The OCuk card gets some great reviews:

However, cheap that this card is for a GTX, it still over a 8£70 more than a 8800GTS.

Will a 88000GTS 640 be enough for a "dabbling" gamer like me?

I intend on teaming this card with a Gig DS4/Q6600 combination.

Any opinions welcome!!

I'd say go with Leadtek 640mb GTS its absolutely stunning. I've not yet run anything that I've to turn the setting down on.

However, on a 24" screen and games like crysis coming out, the GTS may not quite have enough welly to run fully maxxed out.

On the other hand as an occasional gamer, you won't be too fussed if your detail is only on high instead of ultra as it will still look great so I would save myself the £80 and get the GTS.

Im having this same dilemma but at the moment im being swayed more by the fact my tagan 480 probably isnt up to the task of running a GTX so thats another £70 on a PSU as well as the £70 extra for the card. I think this is probably one of those cases where if you are questioning the value £70 for 10 extra fps then the card is probably not for you.
