Where abouts is that?

2000 W Reg FORD Mondeo 2.5 V6 ST24

Leicester.

See that engine would kill me insurance wise at a guess as;

1.6 16v Escort 800 tpft
1.8 16v Mondeo (Valued @2k) 1100 tpft, 1.6k fc
2.5 v6 ?

Its Group 16 - run a quote. You say your budget is up to £9k - would you rather have a £2k 2.5 V6 + insurance or a £9k 1.4?

True but unlike insurance you have a chance of getting the money back when you come to sell up..

Anyway I'll try admiral 2mrw night, cheers for your help

Also what size tyres do you run on them?

I had a quick look at that one the other day when looking for a new motor for the GF (since she wrote her cinqucento off) - it was in the car lot so I had a peep throught the windows whilst we were there, looked quite tidy... a bit long though lol.
There was also a nice mondeo ghia X awaiting to be prepared etc - are they all 2.5V6? how do you tell (open the bonnet? lol) and what mileage are the 2.5V6's good for?
I'm looking around for something like that for the end of the year hopefully... tbh I don't think the Escort 1.8D is going to make it to 200k :D On reflection I know fords pretty well and the mundano seems to be pretty solid- nothing smaller than 2.0l though ;)

my 2.5 V6 Ghia X is on 170K miles and still runs sweet there are a few people on MEG with over 200k miles on there V6's and still going strong :)

you can get a decent mondeo for under a grand if you're willing to get a year or two older, look at R reg's :)

no you dont - spend 9k on a 1.4 and I guarantee you'll lose infintely more money over 3 years than what you would spend on the insurance of that 2.5 V6.

how about;

2000 - Irish Plates
Mondeo
1.6 16v LX
53,000
Mint cond
Full Service History - Non dealer
£950 (cash in hand if you know what i mean)

Stupid question :p

I paid £750 for my 2.0 Ghia X - do not get the 1.6, it's really dog slow, you'll have to thrash it to get anywhere (which will drop the fuel economy) and it'll bore you to death.

Well in the end I didnt get a mondeo

And just incase your wondering NU wanted 2k for the ST24

I ended up with a free Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 Auto

Not the fastest car in the world but faster than my escort and free!

You can if it'll end up costing you a fortune.

I think I'd buy myself something anyway if somebody gave me an automatic Vectra.

When doing less than 10k a year and it has been fully serviced and nothing has gone wrong in the last 2 years... free is the best price
