Things are slightly more rosy outside the US, but given the size of the US consumer market, it could be a long road. I'm going to bet 3D doesn't take off in the home until no glasses 3D screens become an affordable reality.

It's definitely the glasses which put me off. It just feels idiotic sitting there in shades watching a film. I like the effect to be honest, some 3d screens look incredible, although I've not tried gaming (not putting that sort of money down without being completely convinced) I just feel that there's too many things weighing against early adoption on this one as the tech will undoubtedly improve.

Would definatly consider gaming in 3D in the future, first they need to design better glasses that cover your entire FOV without annoying borders, and they need to fix the brightness problem + better value 120Hz monitors. Then ATI need to implement a version of it.

3D gaming and films give me a headache. To be fair, I can't really see the draw anyway, like PhysX it just seems to be the latest excuse to syphon money out of people for diminishing gains.

Paying too much for 3d and it isn't even that impressive imo. I can see it working for cinemas but not interested in buying my own gear at all. That said, I'd like to see it worked on a lot more, potential in it but early stuff is a bit naff.

I think the other thing to consider is HDTV adoption. A lot of people have only upgraded to HD in the previous 5 years (TVs in the past being something that was a big purchase, and still is). Even if the 3D tech was perfect (no glasses and cheap etc), a lot of people would still resent the fact that tech is moving on once more to a new thing. In other words, they don't want 3D, because they have just shelled out on a nice big HDTV, it would seem a waste upgrading in the next few years.

Call it sensible, call it stupid, but I reckon most people aren't interested in buying a new TV yet, no matter how perfect/imperfect the latest tech is.

Had my first experience with 3D on Monday, Tron.

Because I have poor eye sight I have to wear my normal glasses with the 3D glasses on top. This does not bother me much because I have a big nose to hold both glasses on. but it made my eyes hurt it just felt like I was not focusing properly. You know when your watching a film that your eyes automatically focus on the person speaking, It just was not happening for me with the 3D glasses on I had to move eyes myself which obviously what was making my eyes hurt.

I enjoyed the experience and I really want to get a Nvidia 3D kit but I can not afford it. :(

tell that to toshiba. it lost $461 million in a day over a fad.
and sky? one 3d channel? great investment and the take up of sky world is lower than ever.

Hi :D

hate to break it to you but I work in tv broadcasting and 3d is here to stay Trust me! As I said 10 years ago when i first worked in tv they were introducing HD and the only tv's that could view this were worth £20,000. People were saying the same thing as what you guys are saying today about 3d.

the costs side of things its not that expensive to get a pc 3d setup going. on the other hand theres a lot of one eye bandits on this forum  lots of pirates maybe  must be heaps of cornwall peeps here :D

3d is expensive

but i cant wait for some 3d movies to come to my screen at home
