So erm, first breakdown

So what it has a couple of issues, they still cost less to fix than 2k.

Just been to check on the engine, someone was pouring water in the rad while I started it to see how it behaved, it started and ran as usual, hopefully nothing bad happened to it yesterday.

That's nothing, just go to Poland and someone there will do it for a fiver.
Wise***, I am probably going to Poland when I have a week off from uni ( autumn holiday) to get the seats re-leathered and perhaps the clutch and maybe also a respray of the rear left panel, it depends on the quotes I get for the clutch here. The seats and the respray are the absolute last priority though.

Luckily you didn't spend that extra on buying a tidy example but instead opted for the tatty banger which will require repairs to possibly create a tidy example.
Repairs which are still nowhere near the price difference of a ''tidy'' example and a tidy example is also no guarantee everything is fine with it.

Confused, so far I've been asking on the Dutch galant forum and I've pretty much got all the info I need, I have checked clubVR4 in the past but I couldn't register to it correctly iirc.

I'd say the suspension, exhaust and cooling system can be sorted in a day so that's the majority of it sorted fairly easily. Does it need a new manifold or downpipe, if it's just a small hose you could bodge it with paste and sort the suspension out first.

How bad is the clutch?

Haha this is turning very comical.. :D

So you're saying the Suspension passed the MOT but is "not practical" and thus has caused other issues.

Either the MOT Tester wants reporting or you really haven't a clue. :D

Snowdog, please listen to me here mate.

Get the radiator fixed, get it in a semi road worthy state and then GET RID.

Seriously, You have bought a dog. It was clear to us thousands of miles away that it was a dog when you posted 3 pictures of it the other week, but you ignored it insisting that it only needed a few small bits doing on it before it was super mint. Hopefully this incident (and the fact that your to do list is far larger and more expensive that you thought a couple of weeks ago) will make you rethink.

Take it from someone who has done the whole "Bitten off more than he can chew" thing. It'll almost certainly end up in tears (I.E, you still having a nail of a car) and being spectacularly out of pocket. If you must fix up a banger at least make sure that it is a semi rare/interesting car to begin with.

You can't polish a turd.

Surley the saying is getting at the fact that even if you polish a turd, it remains a turd, not that it isnt physically possible to polish a... turd?

the actual saying is just "you cant polish a turd"

It doesnt explicity say it will still be a turd. We need a motoring equivalent of

"you can take the girl out of the council estate but you cant take the council estate out of the girl"

something like that :D

My Volvo is about to tick over 123,456 miles. Was on just over 110k when i got it, and the only thing its cost me so far is £30s worth of track rod end. So going nicely :D

What is the point of saying this, I bought mine with 210.000km and it now has 233.000km, and spent 11€ on some nylon bearings for the gearstick and 10€ for a thermostat...

I don't think I'd feel comfy selling it without fixing the current issues ( mainly the clutch, cooling and exhaust)...
