No idea why mind you. All started off as innocent searches on ebay but soon my perverse mind was bidding and I liked it.

Apparently it starts but who believes what is said on ebay?

130 quid poorer I was left sat in the pea green interior wondering why I had urges for a Shuv-It, Never did find the answer :(

Should I form an OcUK support group for the victims of the Vauxhall Chevette?

1256cc ;)

Get your ass over to www.chevettes.com.

The engine bay is mahoosive...and the 1256 is all-iron...

...Which means that a modern, all-alloy lump drops in easily and doesn't bugger the handling.

Ack - just realised which one you bought.

It's had front end damage - check the inner wings :(

Bugger, how long ago did it happen?

Edit: Just had a look, the inner wings look fine both chassis rails are straight and I see nothing wrong with the wings.

Oh this brings back memories. My dad had one of those in brown! I have no idea how we all got in to it (6 kids + mum and dad) I'm told that once or twice my aunt and uncle with their dog also got in!

'Shuv it!
Off a cliff!

Nah, I dont know much, or anything about these cars except that Penskis hard for them.

My old headmaster had one of those, I never thought at the time people would consider them worth saving. He was still driving his into the ninties so I guess he liked it

Much like mkI/mkII Escorts? ;)

The 1256 is actually quite a sprightly lump for a development of a 40-odd year old engine. It loves to rev.

I don't see how those could have been caused by an accident, especially if the chassis rails are ok. I would take a peak under the washer bottle though as if thats more than surface rust it can go through the panel, leaving you with wet footwell, which in turn leaves you with rotted sills etc. After that get it to an MOT asap and see if anything needs doing.

Try not to get to depressed about. They may be pretty damn slow, but with the standard 155/65 13s or whatever they are you can go every where sideways. I've put some bigger wheels on and it's lost the ease of sidewayness but that's possibly a good thing too.

You might find this interesting too.
