So i did it... I have an ST-3.

You're missing the point, the facelift is barely any different at all.

Carbon trim around the stereo, and slightly different dash clocks. They made the cup holders and arm rest useless with the facelift. That is the full extent of the differences.

It all adds up to make a big improvement. There is also a greater use of soft touch materials too. The old dash does look dated now when your used to the facelift dash.

What changed:
Dash clocks got a slightly bigger display and silly chrome surrounds.
Stereo surround was changed for a CF look item (ST only)
Gear knob was changed for a horrible plastic item
Switches were changed to silver theme.
Cup holders and arm rest were revised, but this move was indisputably worse if you actually use either.

Still looks a lot better and the models with NAV and Climate look a lot better with the silver trim on the facelift.

I could see how the carbon is subjective, as I think the pre-facelifts wrapped with di-noc looks OK.

I can't see how anyone would think those buttons being silver with a black/carbon surround looks better? But then, you did buy an Astra :D

Climate control is pretty rare in any Focus.
...unfortunately :( .

My ST170 has it, but it's a rare option. I don't think I'd like to go back to manual A/C, even my work (company) van has climate control now! (VW Caddy). If the price was right I could do without it, but I'd be actively searching for one with it.

have you chaps got the auto lights/wipers? can you do me a favour and have a quick look above the rear view mirror, where the wire comes from the sensor up into the headlining.... I can see a furry cloth covered wire.... my old car had some sort of plastic covering for it. Should there be one?

Pre facelift with the earlier squarer sony stereo looks better imo, i like the clusters in the facelift tho.

An opinion cannot be wrong as it is your opinion

Your opinion differs from mine, this does not mean either opinion is wrong but only right for both parties.

Normally I'd agree, but seeing as they are almost identical, and 50% of the changes are functional changes that make things worse, then I think you're wrong.
