find the disc on the nearside is smaller than the one on the offside!!
My car is a 1998 Mondeo ST24.
I changed the offside first, obviously not knowing the nearside disc was smaller. All was fine on the offside so I went to the nearside.
At first I didn't realise it was smaller, until I put the new disc on and went to put the caliper carrier on, and of course it wouldn't fit as my new disc is bigger than the old one.
It looks like some clever person has replaced JUST the nearside discs/pads at some point and obviously had a problem on that side and used brake parts from a 2.0, whereas mine is a 2.5 V6 and has slightly bigger discs.
The caliper looks like the right one as my new pads fit in it fine and it's the same size as on the other side.
So I've ordered a new caliper carrier bracket and hoping that will solve the problem. The part cost £88 from Ford and will hopefuly be in stock Monday or Tuesday!
and I couldn't find any at a scrap yard around here.
VERY annoying!
