Went to take an empty glass back into the kitchen and turned the light on and there it was running over the draining board and across the worktop and hid under the toaster

Been here for years and my house has fields behind it and this is the first time ive seen a mouse. Ive not seen any signs of mice before like droppings or chewed food packets but tomorrow im going have to have a dam good clear out of the kitchen.

Funny thing is my kitchen is colder than cyberia so if he came looking for warmth hes come to the wrong place :p

Hate the thought of putting traps down :(

We had a mouse in our house a few years ago and it chewed through everything including walls, carpets and extension leads, while I spent a small fortune on humane mouse traps.

In the end I put poison down and it was gone within a couple of days.

Should we ever get another I would just poison it rather than risk it chewing through electrical cables again.

Burn the fields.* That'll send the mouse a clear message.

*I take no responisbility if you decide to take this course of action. The defence "someone on the internet told me to do it" may not work in court.

If it's a common house mouse, where there's one, there's more, many many more.

There is poison you can get which they will take back to the nest and it will work it's way through all of the buggers.

Try laying down a few mouse traps (chocolate digestives are good bait for these ;)) and see if you get more than one, I personally wouldn't bother with humane/non-lethal traps, as this will not solve the problem. If you get more than one, might be worth going down the poison route or getting pest control to have a look.

Get a Procter Bros Electronic Rat Killer. Did the job for me the evening after I installed it.

I'd post a link to the Jungle place but not sure if it's allowed...

is it weird that i think its really cruel to kill mice with traps yet i find letting a cat hunt and kill them perfectly acceptable even though its as far from 'fair' as can be

my old cat used to leave their organs in a nice pile separate from the body

I stood on a mouse once in the kitchen. The kitchen light was across the way so had to go though in the dark and i stodd of something small and crunchy. I heard a few bones breaking and then the bugger ran fof und er the worktop.
