It will be a green, 1.1, Peugeot 106.

Not sure what age it is, however I shall be buying it off my friend, she has had it as her first car and has now upgraded and was going to sell it to her sister, but she no longer needs the car. So I enquired and she wants £500 for it, and I know she has looked after it well. I obviously need to chat to her, which I will do this Weekend when I see her.

Shall I go for it as my first car? With my budget I should be able to buy the car and insure and have some money left over to spend on the car to get a Sat Nav and other luxury things for the car. :)

Any thoughts? I'd ask here to see what people suggest.

Perfec first car, get it bought, get it into a trusty garage for a service and a checkover, and keep on top of it. Will be a relialbe and great first car.

Yeah, I think I will take it to a service and check over, also give it a good wash and I am set to go for a year or so to get myself started and get myself a NCB.

check your insurance

Cars like this are usually abnormally hard to insure because every 17 year old who bins it spectacularly into a hedge sideways with his hair on fire has one.

If your insurance isn't too bad, £500 is an ideal amount to spend on your first car to get yourself on the ladder.

How refreshing to see a sensible first car on here and not you spending £1,000,000 insuring something fundamentally crud just because 'its a 1.6 m8'.

My first car was a 1.6 Civic :D

I did consider a 1.5, but the robbing bar stewards at the insurance company wanted more for it as it was an import ... quiet how that matters for TPFT I shall never know

My sister got one for a first car and aopart from being painfully slow its perfect to get you on your feet.

What age is it?

Hers is L reg and cost £175 :D one previous owner from new (my parents best friends dad who sadly passed away) She only got it so cheap as she knew my dads mate dad very well.

No power steering in hers :( does this one?

in a year of ownership its been faultless apart from her snapping the key in the ignition :D

I am going to check the insurance with her over the Weekend and find out more about the car, shall let you all know. She had it as her first car and she said it was cheap. - She is sensible too, so I know that she has looked after the car too, so it is not like I am buying off a complete stranger. I am certain it is the car to go for. :)

Good choice for a first car as long as you have smallish feet otherwise you'll have trouble with the accelerator pedal. :p
I have to take my shoe/boot/trainer off to drive one. :o + :p
