So I went to ASDA last night...

my dad was in sainsburys the other day and was almost finished with shopping when he saw two guys were fighting each over the last tub of celebrations, He said it was stupid, he broke it up and gave his one to them so they'd stop arguing and they just stormed of without as much as a thank you.

You just know they will have so many tins of chocolate over Christmas that they will probably not even eat any of those Celebrations. People argue over stupid things. Christmas seems to bring the worst out in people when you put them in a supermarket! :/

2 women behind me in the que in Morrisons today started fighting because one of them pushed in the line. There were 30 checkouts all open and at least 10 people quing for each one it was madness.

What was great was that everyone else round about just stood there tutting and did nothing to try and calm the situation.

I only went in to get something for my lunch break in work and it was like the 7th level of hell!

I did all my Xmas shopping on tuesday morning at 2am on my way home from a nightshift. Took less than an hour and hardley a soul in the place it was perfect. :D

I work in asda - and yes, its carnage. We're working the frozen section at the moment, and as we're filling the shelves, people are taking the products. I just stood for 5 mins or so handing out stock, it was easier :p

Every other customer is asking us for frozen turkeys...kind of pointless now, surely?

Must be an Asda thing, I went Sainsburys last night and even though the store was quite full everything was fully stocked just like in any other day.

EDIT: I used self checkout and didn't wait a single second to use one.

What is the whole point of the panic buy for the holiday period (1 potential day with no open shops, even then there ARE some shops open) or when the snow 1cm sets in?

The problem is it becomes a form of hysteria. One person does it, the other thinks "well, he's stocking up, if I don't stock up I'll be up **** creek without a paddle" and does the same. Chain effect and everyone does it.

This annoys me slightly because although the whole concept is ridiculous, in the event that something DID happen...the "idiots" are better off!? WTF?

I hardly think this is the real reason though for 99% of the cases.

Most people will just want to stock up before Christmas so they don't have to go again during Christmas, spend more time with family and friends etc. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

Yeah I appreciate that part of things...I spent a bit extra on my shop yesterday buying nice things.

I didn't however, buy up all the loaves of bread, all the milk, etc. There is "stocking up a bit extra cos its chriiiiissstmmaaaaaaaas" and then going OTT because there is some panic hysteria purchasing going on!

I've seen both cases it just wierds me out when people see 1cm of snow its straight down the supermarket panic buying...

Perhaps they just have a massive family that just so happens to LOVE bread and milk? :D
