So I went to the Pod this weekend

Very nice launches, go on whats your 0-60 time? :D

That JP4 imprezza has some pretty impressive acceleration in the last video!

Jesus christ, everytime you launched I winched for your clutch but looks like it can take it! Nice times and sounds a beast.

This isn't meant to be offensive but it looks incredibily eays to launch! Suppose the advantages of 4wd and a rock solid clutch! (and no mechanical sympathy as pointed out! :p)

Nice!

How much power does that JP4 car have?

He was running in just V-Power mode which is.. 634bhp :D

out of curiosity, and im not saying this to be negative, but whats the next weak link in the system launching the car like that? shirely it cant take that sort of use indefinately?

Honestly, the clutch can take it as I'm not slipping it, the gearbox can take it, in fact pretty much everything can take it. The 6Speed, driveshafts, propshaft etc are all incredibly strong for some reason. Heck people don't tend to break driveshafts until they're way past 650bhp.. The reason it looked so bad is because of the amount of wheel spin, I think with lowering the tyre pressures and some decent tyres (I have crap ones) along with some firmer bushes, it wouldn't vibrate so badly. Plus Pod can be so slippery, I use my launch control like that on the road and it grips and rockets off so fast it scares the crap out of me!!

I'd love to know, still dying for someone to lend me a gmeter of some sort that isn't a smart phone app!

My mate was there in his Sag LS7 doing 130mph runs in 11 seconds.

Yup I saw him, and recognised the car, mainly from the noise it was making. Went very very well!

It's not easy to launch, trust me. It's all too easy to bog down if you don't give it enough welly from a standstill, hence the use of launch control, but you can't really pull out of junctions with it! If it does bog down, due to four wheel drive and being turbo, it takes what feels like an age to pick up and go again! Great fun when you get it right, but quite hard to not look like a looney when trying to pull onto a roundabout a bit quickly..

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it. :)

this however is a 20 year old ford so understandable with double the power of the original engine.

HI m8

Ive got a racelogic meter, could always lend it you or organise a mini northern meet one weekend. :)

Hey, I'll bare that in mind. I think launch control can sleep for a little while. Poor beast :D

is it on standard suspension?

ish.. Prodrive/Eibach springs, standard sti suspension.

Very impressive times.

I have a G-Tech meter and I'm not that far from you, if your passing Nuneaton drop me an email in my trust and if I'm in we can have a play.

Again, thanks for the offer and I will definitely bare it in mind next time I wish to rape my car :D

Skully.. you're a bad influence! Same bloody day I have it mapped I launch it like a looney in the rain! Probably the same amount of grip as at the line at the Pod though hehe.

Antilag.. nah not necessary, it's the standard turbo which is pretty small, although the pops and bangs would be great!

I've been speaking with my mapper, and he reckons there's an 11 in there, especially if I nail my 60ft like I did on the last run, and a bit of weight reduction (bye bye passenger seat that weighs 26kg!!)

Again thanks for the comments guys :)
