I like swimming, I like cycling, and I love running. Naturally, a triathlon is the natural thing to think about doing.

So..I've pre-registered for IM 2008, because I'm an idiot. Anyone fancy doing it with me? :)

I do know what a full IM is :p

9 hours seems a tad optimistic as you're in the realms of the Pro triathletes. What you basing your ~9hrs on?
First figure I plucked out of the air, completely random and not based on any physical evidence :)

I'd read something about a cut off at 9 hours, that must have been for pro athletes. I'm under no illusions that it will take me ages!

Edit: I'll be getting coaching from the Cambridge Triathlon Club though, so I'm hoping I can put in a good effort.

Edit2: Thinking of raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

Hey Platypus.

Firstly I admire the fact you've just taken it by the balls and booked the beast.

Secondly, if you have not already, I recommend the following book:

"Not normal behavior" by Stuart Staples.

I read it and it almost tipped be over to the dark side, I'll stick to me weights though ;)

Best of luck.
Thanks man :)

Nm, found the book, looking at it now! Looks good and at £8 can't be that bad.

Was definitely going to keep a training log/boring diary.

Platypus, I used to live in Cambridge and rode with Cam CC. Incase you didnt know, they do a club ride on Sunday at 9am, starting in front of the bus car park in front of Addenbrooks hosipital. They'll have a group suited to your ability. It will be either sporting or sporting plus that you want I should imagine.

Good luck with it! :)
Already a regular, and thanks :)

While im not saying this is easy and its not. It really isnt as hard as it probably looks. If you've run a marathon in a decent time and do some cycling then i'd say its do-able. The swim shouldnt really take much out of you physically, cycling on flat on a good bike and flat surface is reasonably pretty easy, and is just a case of getting round to the running feeling good. The run is the hardest part no doubt.

Having said that theres no way im doing it. The training would be pretty horrendous.
Aye I can do the three individual parts ok, it's putting them together thats going to be the problem.

I'm talking to a coach at the Cambridge Triathlon Club, and my physio. If they tell me not to do it I might not, but I'm 90% sure I will. Pre-registering is just the first step of course :)
