After far to many years of service the trusty Panasonic 50" TV (and heat source) has decided to die.

Have no idea on modern TVs apart from OLED is bad idea due to my own ineptitude of wandering off and forgetting it was left on (Read a few posts on this forum to convince its not for me).

So for the interesting bit, new TV is going on the wall, so 65" is too small anything from 75" to 85"

Budget max is 1.5k of course lower is better, Oh and i use HT-NT5 Soundbar with ARC capability, so if its a decent TV with crap sound it doesn't really matter. General all purpose viewing really.

Any ideas you wise folk ?

Thanks all some sound advice, I will pay a visit to shed at the weekend to take a look. I think in truth it has to be OLED I was just trying to convince myself its a bad idea for the screen burn issues everyone is seeing.

As for LG my parents have one, no idea on model but the OS is woefully slow to react to a button press are they all like this ?

Ahh, I was under the impression it was much worse than PLASMA, if that's the case its not going to problem.

I do however think after some digging I need to increase my budget, No rush now the summer months are with us so will target a few and stick them on a price watch.

Mainly because I have not kept up with the technology. My plasma is old :) it's a TV I expect it to last 15+ years like my plasma :)

Ok so, I think i am going to rule out LG due to the UI being horrible.

Really liked the Sony sets and the XR 77" was fantastic but its another £900 on the 65" not the best value.

Holy thread revival...

So ended up with a 77" Sony XR OLED.

After fighting all day to get it on wall just watched guardians of the galaxy and it's like watching a new movie.

Why did I wait so long OLED is bloody brilliant!!

So after the TV is sorted, I was thinking of adding some surround sound but as I am just a average joe with a 3 bed detached AV setup was not even thought about in the 1950s when the house was built. Currently I have Sony NT-7 Soundbar (which sounds great) but time has moved on.

Is it even worth bothering with 5.1 or should I get just get a new and improved sound bar (music is still important) Not floor standers either, any ideas ?

Room as below, so not ideal.

Not thought of Sonos and after the old product pull malarky and over the air support Sonos kind of put me off.

Expensive month....

Popped into richer sounds and as usual stellar service (I really do like company) they kindly set up a few soundbars for me and walked away with Sony HT-A7000.

Good enough for my needs and will pick up the rears after the crypto death has ended :)

For some reason the A-9000 did not work for me musically for movies they was bloody brilliant.

(Yes the model was wrong but for the life of me I can't remember what it was though)
