So many games, so little time.

Frustrated? Drooling with anticipation? Yup that's me and my relationship with games.

Is anyone else finding their lifestyle incompatible with the demands of being a hardcore gamer?

I have loads of games I want to play, I’m sitting here at work itching to continue my quest in Dragon Age: Origins, and find as a married man I only have a couple of hours at night when I get in if I’m lucky.

I’ve got a large pile of games to get through… I’ve given no more than ten minutes to Gears Of War 2, Dead Space, Dirt 2 and Modern Warfare 2. I’ve got The Witcher and King’s Bounty too, not to mention games from a previous era that are shrinkwrapped or barely touched since I downloaded them from Steam for a cheap price (I’m looking at you, Bioshock and Warhammer Dawn Of War 2!).

I’m luckier than most, as my most recent addictions were Fallout 3 (90 hours playtime) and Fable 2, both of which I’ve completed and they’re not small games, so somehow I am finding time over the longer haul I suppose.

But right now I want to have a few days off, just me and the console/PC. You get so spoiled as a kid, I spent so long playing Lords Of Midnight on the Spectrum, the original Championship Manager on the ST and XCOM: Enemy Unknown on the PC all back in the day of course.

Now there’s just not enough hours in the day to satisfy me. And of course I’ve got Mass Effect 2 just round the corner!!

To summarise: responsibility as an adult of 36 years of age sucks, I want to be ten. Or do you think I should be growing out of computer games now??

I couldn't agree more. I was putting the rubbish out last night and my neighbours lad who is about 17 has a large TFT mounted on his wall.. Must have been a 37".. playing some kind of FPS.. I was actually quite green that all I had was PONG :)

Anyway, you are not alone.. I'm nearly 42 and still wonder if i should be still playing.. or wish i had more time to play.. Like when you intended to have an anti-social gaming night with a few beers and the Mrs pops up and says.. "Can you put the babe down tonight" or "let's have some quality time tonight ;)".. Things you just can't say no to but you really ******* want to :D I'm i right?

30 years old here with a wife and 9 month old baby and the biggest pile of unplayed games I've ever owned.

Why is it that once you can afford as many games as you want you can't get time to play them?

Started eve as well so if I get an hour here or there it goes on that.

Meths, I admire you for starting an MMO at your time of life.

Thankfully I got out of my WOW addiction just before I got married and had to live under the same roof as my wife. She'd not be a happy bunny were I still a warlock.

Ha! It's my first one not counting the 14 day trial of WoW. Kinda suits me better though as I can set up my skill training queue and leave it for days at a time knowing that my character is still progressing. That way I can convince myself that I'm getting to play a game even when I'm not.

Because that's life :)

I'm married and moved closer to work about a year ago so now I get home an hour earlier. Helps a bit with gaming as my wife does long shifts, I can get a couple of hours in before she gets home from work.

Also what's been happening lately is that I'm going to bed too late (often around 00:30 - 02:00) so that I get some time for gaming. Currently playing Oblivion which sucks quite a lot of time and also recently got back into multiplayer (Quakeworld) the last few months.

I've been saying for years that all this "there's no good PC games anymore" nonsense is a load of tosh... yeah maybe if you are a student or unemployed with 10+ hrs a day for gaming, not so much for those working fulltime with family commitments. Yes most of us get weekends off, but then that often gets sucked up by going to football (8-9hr round trip), socialising, family time etc.

38 with 3 kids and no missus, by the time i finish work, do tea, housework, kick their arses into gear I am too shattered or cant decide what to play lol.

wasnt that long ago I was working as always and still found time for 3-4hrs of cs or cod every night.

DAO, L4D2 and BF2 are my tipples of choice atm, bought a wheelstand for my momo and a few weeks later I gave up racing due to commitments.... NOT FAIR :D

RESPECT!

23 with a 2yr old son, my days of hardcore raiding are long gone :( Yeah I miss the days where I was up all night, then stroll into college for 2 hours and back home to bed. Good times! WoW urges are always tingling :( All I have now are a couple of hours here and there with MW2 getting client timeouts and connection losts! :o

im 39 and play 12 hour battles on a saturday night some guys in my squad are in there mid 50s

What game is it that allows you to play 12 hour battles?!!

I'm 35 with a wife, daughter and a business but I still manage to squeeze a few hours gaming in. It helps doing all the cooking in the house and having an understanding wife (who really appreciates the cooking!).

oh, and I'm just getting back into wow ... maybe not the best idea I've had

Settlers looks great.

My daughter (first child) was born 3 weeks ago and for some reason i still bought 8 games in the Steam sale - i've already got 3 or 4 that need playing prior to that! I dont think i'll ever grow out of gaming - just find it harder to get the time to play.
