So my friends got me into playing WoW... [A small warning]

Wow is great in moderation.
Glad I'm burnt out from it, 5hours a night 5days a week to lose server first by a few hours on lk hc just wasn't worth it.
Although playing 3-5 hours a week doesn't justify the sub really.

I would say it more than does, £9 for 12-20 gameplay a month is good value.

Compare it to the pound per cost of renting a dvd from somewhere like blockbuster.

Social levelling and doing instances with guildies is the best part about it. Endgame is cool for awhile but gets dull very quickly when all you are doing is chasing stats or hanging around waiting for something to happen or doing daillys. After a year or two playing I ended up on a PvP realm which was fun for awhile but that got pretty dull too. Had a go at Cata over xmas took mage to 84 then got bored again. I think I am all WoWed out now.

Enjoy your levelling and as has been mentioned, take your time.

Imo wow is some mega boring ass **** only popular with its aging engine and shocking quests bc of its time in the gaming world and the general mass influence opinion it has.

I have a 67 and 40 which I managed to do In just over a month.I was extremely bored throughout but there was a constant "this must get better as people have said its amazing" vibe that kept me going.

AND ultimately in the end, I really looked at why I was playing this sack of **** for a game and came to the conclusion that its for the fundamentally sad people in this world...you know the same sort if people that will stay in a job for years even though they hate it just because they can't get off their sorry ass and look for another one.

What's funny as well as its that I played a huge host of mmo s and aol of them bar one was much much more entertaining than wow.

Good luck and I hope you see the light.

When did you play it to level to 67 and 40? Pre or post cataclysm?

levelling from 1-60 post cata is much different to pre cata, far more entertaining and more like a solo RPG. I got bored when i hit outlands.

I started playing this because my friends were and I got to lvl 79 but I started to get bored of it a few weeks ago, it just ebbed away until I was no longer playing. Might pick it back up sometime but I just got sick of the repetativness of it.

The new questing is really good, for a new player joining the game you really have joined at the best time. Since hte revamp leveling is soo much more fun.

When you get to 60 just grin and bare it in Outlands, its not fun being out there but once you get past it, it usually takes 1/2 6hour days to do. Your back onto the fun stuff. :)

Enjoy it, it's a good fun game. It does consume you though, as do most games that reward you for devoting more time to them. I recently let my sub expire and I'm enjoying the break. I'll probably re-sub at some point, but re-kindling my relationship with my 360 atm.

I played it solidly for 2weeks circa 2006. Fortunately it didn't catch me and I walked away, not tempted to try it again.

At the time the lure of football manager was probably stronger....

Wait till you get to lvl 85, that's where all the fun stuff starts.

and this is the fundamental problem.
people have been constantly saying 'wait until you hit this', 'wait until you hit that'

The game is essentially one big flawed excercise in patience with very little promise of any REAL enjoyment. im sure when people do hit 85 that actually when all has been said and done and the epee has stopped growing - the experience is just as dull as the one that got you there.

post cata, and still found it boring.
dont even get me started on outlands..........

Really?

I did find the game a grind pre cata, i would still go back to it from time to time, but I created a Worgen and the first 20 levels of that in particular were some of the best gaming fun ive ever had. The 20-60 was still great fun, as a lot of the quests were new but there was some repetition and it felt a bit more grindy. 60-70 has been torture, outland is so small that it feels unbalanced now with the rest of the game.
