Up a Tree...
hey all.

well my mini packed in last week on the way to work
had to arange for a trailor to take it away and back home from work.

Had a look at it the weekend, and basicly... the Timing is fubard! keeps changing its mind, and where the white mark is... keeps changing once engine is turned. (gone loose basicly)
engine needs to come out.

so... going to put a different one in (wanted to anyway)
really want a 1275, or a fast road engine, (want straight cut gears aswell, sound so nice)

BUT....
this was my work car... had to drive to work everyday. been driving it since Nov last year. did well... for a car that
sat in a garage for 5 years, and never went anywhere. just was painted and polished. but yea.
I drive about 40+miles everyday, so... needed to find a old banger to get to work, tomorrow...

just got back from looking in peterborough this afternoon and well... just shows you what you can find on a sunday in a couple of hours.

this is what I found!!! bought it, put petrol in it. and went through a car wash. (was really muddy)

parked next to my dads metro (he wants mine now)

basicly. its running sweet, drove it home just now.
only the arches have rust, not much else I can see, oh and cracked from headlight, but all works.

best bit is... only paid £225 for it :)from a car dealer. (lucky find, he only had it in there since yestaday!)

MOT and Taxed Till April I think. 1.4 ltr, 16valve twin cam. (much faster than me 998)
Got to send off for a new log book though.

dont worry... I still love MINI'S!!! still Mini Mad!!! and I will be fixing my mini!!! when I can on weekends.
but least now I can get to work!

I want to put a really nice engine in the mini this gives me a chance to save. (not good at)
keep saving for my new engine and interior!!!
what you think?

Bargin?... me thinks so :w00t:

nice:D I remember these when I was a bit younger, there was a GTa too, not sure how they differed?

i remember your posting when you picked up the mini. Hope you fix it soon :).

hehe.
got two months out of it, which isnt bad I guess.

needed to fix the timing anyway.
but now I can save and in no rush to fix it,

so will give me time to find a nice engine for it. :)

will definitly get my mini back on the road, (thats my pulling car)
makes everyone smile, and I love it. just need nice engine and interior.

then I'm sorted :)

What sort of power output you looking at for the new Mini engine? Will decide what capacity etc you want to get.

Can't belive you used it for a daily driver, why not keep it mint and buy a £500 mondeo :/ :p

cause that will make me want to drive to work everyday right? :P
I drove my mini everyday (near enough)

but allways loved getting to work, allways had a smile on my face. some how... driving a Mondeo... wont do that for me sorry.

You can drive mini's to work everyday just fine.
but yea. I dont want to ruin it, if I get a nice engine in there.

so may end up keeping this metro for awhile.

really want a 1275 or a fast road engine with straight cut gears.
but for now...

most important thing is getting to work, for me to save up for one :)

Free motoring whilst the mini is off the road as you could surely sale that in 6months time for the purchase price?

I had one of those in about 1994. I actually really like it. Quite quick for a 1.4 and its quite fun to chuck about. Then again it was a 4 year old car at the time - might not be quite as nice as an 18 year old car!

break the metro

transplant 1400 16v into mini :)

or a mad as a box of frogs 1380 on a single webber 40(although you'll need to mod the bulkhead for it to fit)
