Well i sold up my xbox CE version months ago, and yes i vowed it would be a while before i bought it on PC (due to needing large upgrades).

However i am feeling nostalgic for this game, and morrowind actually. How is the mod scene going? anything worthwhile yet? What REALLY is the spec to have for this game (currently on an LGA 775 single core 3.2ghz 5xx P4 with 1 gig ddr2 and a......lol :( 6200.......le..........turbocache.....doh!)

So im geussing GFX upgrade at a minimum ;)

All opinions appreciated

another gig of ram and a graphics card would be great...and you are socket LGA775? Which mobo? Maybe you can drop in a conroe with a bios flash :D

yeah if you are a fan of oblivion I advise going ATI as they support AA + HDR which looks stunning together

oh and here's a screenshot. Just to annoy you! :D Not scaled that's 1680x1050, although had to compress jpg.

wont let u have hdr and aa at the same time on oblivion.

Get a conroe and a x1900xt and 2 gig ram

AA is disabled. Found out the Omega drivers without the Chuck patch work in Oblivion with AA enabled, just manually adjust the quality settings.

Upgrade the video card - I would say a 256MB GF6800 level of card or higher, to see the game close to its best. The CPU and RAM are more than fine.

I run a 3.0GHz P4, 1GB RAM and a 128MB 6800 (fully unlocked) and it plays very nicely with pretty high settings.

Radeon X1800 and X1900 series graphics cards are perfectly capable of running Oblivion with HDR and antialiasing enabled at the same time if you install the "Chuck patch" for Catalyst drivers.

Here's two screenshots on my E6300 @ 3GHz and X1900XT @ XT-X clocks, downsized from 1440x900: -

He used to have a 6800UE which presumably he's sold or had problems with.

Personally I'd recommend getting an ATI card (x1800xt or better) since they seem to perform better in this game and also have the capability for AA+HDR.

what resolution are you playing at? :)

1024x768 2xAA. Medium textures, bloom, high water details. I also use a few config tweaks like less dense grass, and also the LOD texture replacement mods.

Yeah x1800 XT plays Oblivion fine, mine plays it maxed out in 1280x1024 (TFT), 2xAA/16xAF+HDR, gets about 30-40fps outdoors, and indoors is probably in the hundreds, thats with no tweaks at all, just the LOD replacement packs to get rid of the bluryness in the distance when outdoors. :)

It really is a stunning game, i spent about 100+ hrs just wandering around, and cleaning out caves, never got around to any quests. :D

The music is stunning to. :)

i want to give it a go, but i'm thinking perhaps my x800pro@xt pe might struggle with my 1440x900 native res..... but if curio can play @ 1024x768 with decentish settings with a 128mb 6800 then that does give me hope.... :D

i have my [email protected] and 2gb ram so i guess i should try it.... :)
