Hi all,

So whats everyone hoping for the January 07 Mac Conference?

Me personally I'm hoping for...

MacPro Update
Tablet Mac
iPhone.

How about you guys?

MacPro update is a given I think, there are rumours of an 8-Core MacPro! :D

iPhone wouldn't have much appeal for me but on the software front I will be severely disappointed if iWork 07 doesn't include a spreadsheet.

I certainly hope they don't announce a Tablet style Mac as I would want one so much I would cry and wet myself at the same time because I just cannot justify another computer purchase at the moment. Plus her ladyship with have my plumbs on a skewer if I turn up with yet another large white box. :)

EDIT: Oh, don't forget iTV.

:D That would be awesome!!!!

I have been hanging out for a MacPro, and even ordered but cancelled one back in October....

I'm on the verge of buying one. How long till the conference now?

im hoping for them to announce pricing changes and raise the 16% HE discount to something like 50%! Maybe I could just about afford a mac then!

I would like to see them release a no-frills standalone Mac tower, á la the Mini but a lot cheaper. I think they would make large market share gains especially in the business market if they did this.

Personally i'm hoping for a Tablet / PDA device with built in phone, i'm desperate for something I can carry around that will sync with iCal and Address Book ... and i've been waiting years for Apple to bring out a phone so i can replace my aging Nokia!

New iSights are a given also, as Apple have completey removed them from all stores now, not just European ones.

So, its looking like;

  • iLife '07 & iWork '07
  • New iSights (possibilty integrated into ACD's)
  • iPhone / PDA Device
  • Leopard Preview (and release date)
  • Mac Pro update ... maybe a Mac Mini (Core 2 Duo) update?

Oh, and dirtydogs theory/prediction i'm liking, i got a Mac Mini simply because I couldn't justify spending a huge amount on the Mac Pro (...or the Power Mac at the time), so something in-between the Mini and Pro i'd like to see for my next computer.

Since I am not in the market for new Mac Hardware (got MPB, Got 24inch TFT, Got 5G iPod etc), the thing I am most looking forward to is definately Leopard.

I cannot wait to see what Apple come up with. I think that this is by far going to be their best ever major update to date. The limlight is really on Apple at the moment, and I think they are gonna pull something pretty damn good out the bag that is gonna blow Vista out the water completely.

Completey agree ... well, with your second paragraph anyway ;)

So far with Time Machine, Spaces and iChat AV Apple have already out done themselves, but they haven't even got started with the features they weren't willing to unveil incase Microsoft copied them for Vista. With Front Row & PhotoBooth being built into Leopard rather than on new mac's it'll be a fantastic operating system.

I'll be buying the Family Pack licence as soon as its released :D

I just hope they don't release a MB update. I only just bought one. Apart from that, I'd like leopard more than anything...I think.

Actually, I'd like them to release a new Mighty Mouse (wireless) with no lag. I love te mouse, but hate the lag!

They just updated the MB not long ago so i doubt it, possible a MBP slim version and i've heard rumors of a new iPod.

I'm waiting for the Leopard release.

The things they have already shown us are things that are already out there already that Apple are taking on. Time Machine is like SuperDooper (think thats what its called), Spaces does what VirtueDesktops does, iChatAV ... bleh dunno bout that one.

I think the things they are keeping under their belts are the real innovations, the things that Microsoft probably have never even thought of.

Big things boys, big things.

I just got mine today, and it lags no more than the wired one. In fact, it's more responsive than the wired one on my mate's Mac Pro.

But anyway :p

Looking forward to seeing more of Leopard, I've used the Dev Preview and like all of the changes, so seeing what else we have to look forward too will be interesting.

What I really want is an update for DVD Player to support HD DVD & Blu Ray. That would make me happy :D

Hmmm

I'm not sure if i'd call it lag. Maybe just sluggishness. It's ok and far better than my other wireless mouse for desktopping, but it's no way near as good as my logictech mx510. (the sluggishness is very noticeable in open arena!)

I think you're quite right. At WWDC Jobs did say that he was intentionally keeping some key features under wraps so that the competition could not see them too soon. Among these, I believe, will be a new Finder with extensive metadata searching.

Things I'd LIKE to see but I don't expect:
Support for ext3 file system in Leopard
A machine with a tower form factor with a single C2D with a few CPI-e slots for expandability.
Updates or price drops to Cinema Displays

-BTI

P.S. Lookin' good as a MoH, AJUK. :)
