are there any SciFi games comming that will utilise the latest features? i.e. SM3 HDR, ect ect ? im now the proud owner of a GTO2 a 7800GT and an X1800XT lol, suffice to say the XT is staying the others are going.

Because of the absolutely awful coding UFO:Aftershock (a spiritual successor to UFO: Enemy Unknown) actually requires vast amount of VGA power as well as a monsterous CPU speed and either a Raptor or RAID set-up to avoid crippling load times. The only thing that it doesn't munch through is ram....but then again it has memory leak problems so having lots or little ram makes little difference when it decides to act up. On max settings it looks like it's 2 years old and it gets as choppy as hell for no good reason.

It came out in december I think and I absolutely love it. Best game i've played in years.

lol, so its a horrible game, but you love it??? :D

ive got X3 here which is a monster of a game and looks a good year ahead of its time, but its too damn complicated :( i spend 15 minutes on it before i uninstalled it and put it in the box. my GTO2 barely runs it at full graphics options, cant wait to see what my new card does,

I loved the old X-Elite games but X3 (and indeed X2 The Threat) just didn't do it for me. My 7800gt does seem to play the demo of X3 on max settings at 1600x1200 without too many problems though and I agree it looks breath-taking. Best game I've seen to be honest.

UFO: Aftershock is awsome. With the patches it's not all that bad and despite the graphics and the slow downs and the crashes I can't help but adore it. You have to be prepared for some hardcore micromanagement but it's well well worth it. If you've ever played the 1993 UFO:Enemy Unknown game you'll know exactly what I mean. After a while you love finely tuning your squads and their weapons.

I think the next big game to really test todays gfx cards will be UT2007 and any other game that uses the Unreal 3.0 Engine... :)

As well as needing a fast gfx card, UT2007 will also be the 1st (afaik) game to support the new PhysX card, so can't wait to see what people make of that, if their willing to shell out for one, i'm gonna wait for some positive feedback before i get one... :)

Great game - not that demanding though - good free download.
