I've had a huge 50" toshiba rear projection for a little over 4 years now. To me the picture quality from a reasonable distance on SD stuff is absolutely fantastic.

Its actually this one

Its currently in a corner bit where nothing else can go anyway, so the size/width of the screen is absolutely no issue.

I've been looking and looking for the past 6 months really and the problem is, i'm not getting far!

Its not a case of what model to get as i know which all the best ones are, its what technology to get!

What i'd like is to use it for mainly sky sd / media centre / pc gaming. This is where the problems start, sky sd = plasma, yet media centre = lcd. I have this huge pet hate which is ghosting/lag/afterglow in any way and this also puts me off lcd a bit, yet a plasma can get burn in, when used lots as a pc monitor still apparently? In all honesty i couldn't be less fussed about "black levels" and all that but i absolutely hate the image to have any sort of afterglow.

This might mean another rear screen? You can now get them 1080p which could theoretically be used great as a pc monitor with absolutely no ghosting. The big question though is, has this technology progressed greatly compared to my current one?

I'm so puzzled as to what to get still! LCD / plasma / rear screen, i really don't have a clue, which is why i haven't bought one in 6 months of looking.

There seems to be, maybe one screen that currently exists that'd be perfect for my needs which is the new sony x3500 with "100hz blah blah", but its still too much for me to justify wasting right now.

Why do people hate rear screen's so much btw? isn't the PQ generally better than almost any flatscreens apart from the top plasma's? is it just because they're so fat and uncool? :D

What do all the pros on here think i'd want? :p
