So, whats the '8800GT' of the moment?

Right, i've done it, but it's possibly the most difficult upgrade decision ive ever had to make.

MSI 5850 with the cool silver cooler, bought!

Ended up having to buy a couple of adapters to move HDD drives into DVD bays as i've realised pretty much no modern graphics card will fit in this case without hassle, doh!

Thanks to all of those that gave advice. It's been a great help.

Good choice! I hope it fits ok. GTX 460's are quite short...

Well, i was expecting the first reply to be 'zomg, noob, bad choice!' so things are going better than i anticipated!

It should be fine i think. I've got a p182 so i'm going to remove the 3-bay hard drive caddy and relocated my SSD and storage drives to the DVD drive bays. The 4 bay next to the psu is totally full of storage drives already :p

GTX460 1GB is most akin to the "8800GT of the moment". It offers great performance at resolutions most people game at, overclocks very well and is about the same price (£130ish for a decent one). The only negative is that 460's are dual-slot rather than single, but it would be almost impossible to cool "460 class performance" without a large heatsink.

It's in the B-Grade section, overclockers just copy and paste the product description over.

Yes i know i should buy second hand, but i'm one of those stupid people that likes the full warranty, reciepts etc..

Thats the cool thing about the mm people do keep receipts for warranty.

I have never had to rma a gpu in my life though I'd hazard a guess half the manus just ask for P/N & serial numbers ?
