So who actually still plays WoW

I think you nailed it there. Though I've already pre-purchased GW2 and I don't even know why. I suppose I probably will play it but I'll be too casual to keep up with friends most likely in leveling and alike.

you dont need to keep up with friends and they dont need to keep up with you, if your friends are lvl 80 and ur lvl 20 u can still play with ur friends and vice versa.

I found WoW unsatisfying to be honest. I got to lvl 60 and was pretty meh and unsubbed when I acknowledged all I'd really done was complete dozens of text based quests ranging from one land to the next.

I played both WoW and SWTOR for 2 months a piece. WoW was alright for the first four weeks or so. Dare I say, I was actually enjoying going from place to place with my friend, making sure lots of nasty things had a bad day. It probably helped that I had a Jamaican troll with a pink mohawk, but hey. For some reason, though, in about week 5/6, I started to lose interest. Not even the dungeons and such felt fun. I played a shaman as well, so it's not like I wasn't playing a varied class. I think it was a case of feeling like I was constantly treading over old ground instead of exploring new and exciting places like you would in a single player game. I got up to level 70-something thanks to triple XP to level 60.

SWTOR was very enjoyable for the first month. I loved the story (I played my Chiss Imperial Agent, resurrected from the grave of beta wipe) and even headed my own guild with a few people. After the story ended, there was little to do, though. The server was completely dead, which meant finding a group was nigh impossible, even with guild members due to life commitments, time differences, etc. The lack of decent looking armour was a bit of a killer, though. Especially after what they showcased in the trailers. All that high resolution, cool armour, and on release, we get a bland, blurry mess :(

As for which one's worth bothering with, WoW is mechanically the better game, but SWTOR was the better game to play for me, being a big fan of the Star Wars universe, and the voice acting. As filler as a lot of the quests were, it was still nice that they were voice acted, and for those quests that mattered, it really added the context and made you feel involved. It also had some game-changing decisions, particularly in the Imperial Agent story. Some of them were very difficult

Forgive the ranting. It's late, and I've been drinking scotch :p

But 99% of MMO's quests are text based so....

And yeah I still play it, mostly since I'm in a guild who I get on with and chat over vent with, I find WoW is only fun if you have the social part of it, otherwise it does get boring quick

Yep. Killed with TBC but DESTROYED with Cataclysm. I think they hired new people for Cata (apparently from the local mental ward).

Original game was amazing tho, can't deny that.

Original game wasn't amazing, it was so simple and buggy, pales in comparision to say WoTLK

I've gone back to WoW recently, thanks to the new Scroll of Resurrection. I must say, it's really good now, with much of the awful, tedious grinding removed and lots and lots of new content to experience in even easier ways.

The whole transmog thing is great, too, and adds a whole new aspect to the game for those who like that sort of thing.

Playing through Ulduar yesterday to get some transmorg gear I'm amazed how downhill they went with cataclysm.

Ulduar was amazing. The whole design and setting is just phenomenal!

While initially not being hopeful for MoP, I'm actually quite excited from what I'm seeing now!

Yeah, I believe it when I see it. None of my friends in the real world are going to be playing GW so I'll be going with people I meet I the game like guild people and they will rather someone their own level.

With GW2 other people don't get in the way, you don't even need to team with them, as long as you're there and tagged it/participating you get rewarded, you actually WANT them to be there :D

In WAR it was just a load of people running around aimlessly or standing AFK for rolls on loot and then a couple of months into the game all the lower tier group quest areas were empty.

I can't say it ever felt like playing with people really.
