So who else has been blessed with the receeding hairline gene

Are there a couple of screws on the underside of the blade on your clipper? You can loosen those and move the bottom blade as close to the edge of the top blade as possible but keep it a wee hair back. That should get you a closer shave.
Unfortunately not. Perhaps I need to angle the clipper at a different angle. :)

marc, might be the clippers, some brands are pretty poor, my house mate shaved his and at the start had a £10 pair which just could not get close enough, in the end he well all out and brought a pair recommended by his once barber

I'm 18 and tbh, I'm quite vain :-/ My oldest brother is 28 and his hair loss is only just starting to become noticeable (You could see before if you looked closely, but to the passer by, it looked normal). My other brother, who is now 24... Well his hair started thinning at about 17 or 18, and his hair on top is now very thin. My hair is looking good at the moment, but I'm a bit paranoid... I'm half Chinese and am not sure how well the bald look would suit me (and I'm vain :p )

No receding hairline. I still normally have it shaved number 1 all over though, perhaps I should make the most of it and grow a barnet that wouldn't look out of place on an Italian footballer.

I'll probably go grey like my grandad. Either scenario doesn't really worry me though.

This thread is depressing. No hair loss for me but my dad started going bald from the age of about 26. However my maternal granddad had a full head of thick hair even into his 50's.

How have I missed this thread?

19 years old and oh yes, receded wwaaayyyy back. I'm not self concious or anything like that, but damn it's annoying. :p

I know a couple of guys who've had it since they were 13-14
One of my mates is just 21 and almost completely bald on top :D

My hair is horribly thick, it's really annoying but I guess i won't be going bald for a while.

I'm not receding (thankfully) but I started out with a massive forehead anyway, so it's always looked a bit like I am, I have pretty thick hair though, and my maternal grandad didn't go bald before he died (87) and my dad's only started thinning in the past couple of years (67) so I should be ok for hairloss!

Isn't baldness to do with your mothers side? I always thought it was?

My old man has loads of hair, as did his dad. My old man is still really dark haired at 63 too, obviously a few grey hairs showing but all in all doing well.

My grandad on Mum's side is full on silver with thinning hair on top and a small bald patch but he is nearly 80. So I don't think I'll be balding other than with really old age.

I really don't think it matters what your hair situation is as long as you don't harbor a massive complex about it. A lot of women find it attractive too (alpha male, testosterone, etc).

I started loosing it first year of college, I keep it shaved pretty close so it's not to bad but I still absolutely hate it.

I've had a receding hairline since i was about 10years old. It's very very slowly receded a bit more but not loads, about the same as Oxides was 2 years ago. I don't think it will recede much more, and i don't think i'll ever go bald. I've got my dads hair, and he's still got a head full at 71.

I am going grey now though at 30. Got several strands of silver strings on the front. :(
